cckw doesn't stand behind his words

good lord, how much could the import taxes possibly be?

again, I think people really should buy insurance regardless of weather or the not buyer wants it and the sellers should just increase their price!

anyone not wanting to buy insurnace is not so smart.

They can be a lot. Other than to obey the law that isn't an issue we can deal with here.

I agree.

Insurance is to protect the seller, not the buyer. pwet paid for a knife. He didn't receive it so he's owed his money back. The seller should have researched the insurance options to protect himself. If the buyer didn't want to pay for the insurance then cckw should have declined to sell.

This is exactly why insurance is necessary. If anyone pays for a knife and doesn't receive it, they're owed their money back. The seller should protect himself with insurance so that if the buyer does not receive the product he can return the buyer's money and suffer no loss himself.

What I don't understand is why so many people think that insurance is meant to protect the buyer. The buyer can't initiate a claim. The buyer doesn't receive the refund. Insurance is meant for the seller. If someone sells a knife and the buyer doesn't get it, the seller should refund his money. In order to protect himself from this possibility, the seller should require insurance or refuse to sell. If the seller doesn't want to include the price of insurance then he's taking on the risk himself.

I see that others see this differently than I do, but to me it's pretty clear: If you buy something and don't get it, you're owed your money back.

for holland,
about 26% of value stated

but if the amount is lower it more ( 150 $ knife is i need to pay 45 € ( +/- $60,= ) )
that is off set by the administation charge.

that is why i most off the time take a different route,
i pay a little more for UPS/ DHL express shipping
but no insurance, works for me.. no problems what so ever, and very good to track, and fast
i already pay 50% tax over every buck i make,
the tax man has to leave my knives alone

This is not rocket science. As a seller, I am responsible for delivering the product to the customer. Period. The Insurance is mandatory, since I want to protect myself from a potential loss. If a purchaser doesn't want to reimburse me for the cost of the Insurance, I have two options: 1) we don't conclude the transaction or 2) the purchaser assumes (in writing) all risk of loss. Any other course is foolish. cckw's ignorance of the rules of acceptable business practices is not a valid excuse and reflects poorly on his judgement.
