DFK using natural handle materials?!?! :eek: I thought I had the lone oddity with wood scales!

I think the anvil will be useable, no dead spots I could find right now, once I clean it up I will see what's up with it. I do plan on mounting it, just don't know where to put it yet, lol!

Busy day but had several casualties at work this morning, one rabbit, one guinea pig, one hamster. All dead. The rabbit got beat up by a slightly bigger male, I think. They were just fine yesterday, and are all mellow now. The whistle pig I think had a stroke, it was breathing heavy and non responsive yesterday when I quarantined it, and dead today. Hamsters are just nasty little critters, but only have a 2 year life span, who knows what happened to this guy. Haven't had a pet die in the store in a while, usually its from being sick when they come from the breeder. Still sad, though.

Anyways, DFK is gonna use wood! WOOHOO!!

:D ...Just on Kitchen Knives, I swear!

I'm either using stabilized wood or stuff like ironwood and blackwood that doesn't need stabilization. I'll be using hidden pins or some sort of fasteners beyond the norm as well. This way I can use wood and feel good about it staying stable/moving/cracking. It's overkill but I rest easier that way....

Wait what happened ? You guys were talking about cats with thumbs. I go and grind some knives ,come back in the house to eat and now it is pizza :confused::D Well here is a pic of a pic of my cat that has no thumbs.

Very nice! I'm about to have lots of stuff coming up so it should get more exciting around here. :D \

The mill is running well and I just got some stones in this evening to clean it up with. Thanks again for the help!
 
Too funny!


Major day here... reminds me of the day I ground my first batch of fixed blades! I finally figured out a few things on the folders, one epiphany led to another and I think I may be well on my way now. :D

I actually don't throw much of anything away... even small scraps get bagged up. I'll make clips with any thick Titanium, bolsters with G10, I plan on forging some of my steel scraps eventually. I was mostly having problems counterboring with the folders, I may be able to get creative (surface grind the coinyterbores away) and save the frames I messed up on. Just wait until I get a forge! :D
