Friction Folder Making Tips!

As promised!
...make a template from cardboard or on the computer to make sure everything works!
Generally I spot my pivot first, then the blade or stop pin hole. Install the pivot, close the blade then drill a hole into the blade through the stop pin hole in the scale. Then open the blade and do the same thing. Now you have a stop on the blade for the tang and the stop.

You should have a pivot hole in the center with two holes to the sides at roughly 1 and 7 o'clock. Draw lines to the holes and for your tang, grind to shape.
Leave enough metal to have a nice tang and for as big of a washer as possible... but remove enough so that the knife has clearance to open and close.
Let me know if the previous part makes sense, that is 90% of your layout which is the most important part on a folder in my opinion. I may draw it out so it makes sense.
You want everything flat and parallel. Check for straightness against a surface plate or piece of glass.
Drill your holes a few thousandths under and ream to size. Reamers help a lot with accuracy. Make sure your drill press is set up "square."
Your standoffs or spacer has to be the same width as the blade + washers. You can make a jig to sand the standoffs down by drilling a hole the size of the standoff into a flat bar of metal. Use it to keep the standoff square to your sanding surface. (piece of glass or surface plate.... evan a ground granite scrap)
OK that's a lot... please ask any questions and I'll have more later!
