...been sanding like a freakshow... glue-up done! I took the edges to 4000 grit, stropped on phonebook paper. nasty!
I'm finally getting pretty good at hand sharpening (Japanese style) to a zero bevel on the kitchen knives, it has taken me a while! All of my kitchen knives are sharp, lol. Now that I am getting it the method is easy... just need to go to a high grit to really see the performance. Waterstones are next...
I'm worn out here, the in-laws are helping us watch Jade, helping Sara out so I am getting all the shop time I want. ...which is a lot!

lol, funny you should mention that. I do have a Simpson Nomex jacket and gloves. You needed to have at least the jacket if you were running nitrous at the dragstrip.

Morning folks.
Rained yesterday and last night, nothing like the morning after a rain, just so nice out! Woke up to my new little dog Weber bouncing off the walls in a playfull mood! That little guy was tearing around the house at full speed then comes barreling into my room and jumps onto the bed landing right in my gut! He was like "hey dad let's play! Ugh, if I didn't like the little furball I would have kicked him outta my bed! Was too funny though!

Sup folks? I heat treated my first knife in the oven today and it burned the freakin' handle right off . That's it, I'm makin' handles out of metal from now on! Have a good night y'all.

Good morning guys!
First day of Fall and wow it feels like it! cold here... 36F! just checked and am surprised, no wonder I'm cold!
We had a hailstorm yesterday that eventually covered the roads in mudslides, we went through about 6 low water crossings on our way home last night. The hail was 3 inches deep on the road! I've never seen anything like it.

Good morning! I was surprised to see it that cold!
Time to pick apples, they are ready to go here. We found some wild trees with some old heirloom crab apples, they are awesome! They were originally grown here for cider but are really tasty.
I'm about to go grind some handles!

Damn, 36F?! I couldn't handle that...I'm just too cold blooded. Its still 70-80 up here in NorCal as well. We hve another month at least before apples. Still seeing tomato trucks on the road! We get some big hail storms from time to time here, looks like snow drifts on the road. The worst is the Tule Fog, unique to our area, visibility can get down to 30-40 feet! All winter long, and damn is that stuff cold! 38*F and 110% humidity. Not looking forward to it.

Mornin' dudes. All joking aside, I did heat treat and temper a few things yesterday. The oven works awesome although not as exciting as HT at Xanders with fire. I Did the blades I thought most likely to fail in quench but they came out just fine. Time to get some more blades in the oven and get the handles and sheaths started. Have a good one y'all.
