I hear you! as we get no signal here I have missed out on football for years now.... my in laws have cable at their cabin so we got to watch it the last two weekends and it was a lot of fun. :D

TV is weird after not watching it for so long... commercials are just bizarre these days! we don't get a newspaper out here either... have not kept up on current events for over 10 years now and I enjoy it!

Random note...We were given a few old chef's knives with bleached out wooden scales and low grind... you guys know the type! brass rivets and grind that stops before the heel... I took one out to sharpen it and completely remade the knife! I ground out the left side to a full plungeless and threw on my "layered" kitchen knife grind onthe right side for a nasty chisel grind... it is nuts! incredible performance and looks pretty cool....pics later

Morning y'all!

Got my latté, but it hasn't taken effect yet. Was up way too late last night playing with the D200, was experimenting with light painting. Didn't get to bed until about 0230! Good thing I don't work today.

Make it a good one you bunch of miscreants, skaliwags, barnacle blisters, bilge rats and cabin boys (that's you Kevin!)

Good morning! I was up from 1-4 am... kitty party here. I wasn't invited... :D

I'll have to look up the camera technique...

Hardly.

I agree, wrestling totally rocks! Wrestlemania!!!!!

yeah, but wrestling isn't really a sport. Racing, now that is the only sport worth watching. I don't care what type, motor sports, boats, planes or even wiener dogs, racing is where its at!

Daniel, check out some of the photostreams on Flikr for light painting, some really crazy stuff! I am nowhere near that level of understanding or have some of the specialized equipment, but if your camera can do a 30sec exposure or BULB mode, then you can do light painting.

Yeah but at least wrestling is real. :D lmao...

I heard the Americas Cup was good... didn't know they went to foiling catamarans.

I checked out the technique and loads of pics... must try! cool stuff

Another glorious day! Man the weather is great. I've got a load of PTO days to burn, but sadly this week no coverage. Them's the breaks :(

Daniel you posted some amazing work lately. Kudos!

I got 40 various planks of wood in the basement. Tomorrow morning I'm putting up two more workbenches, and three sheets of pegboard. This is my excited face :)

Away from the noise and smoke watch sports in a cabin that's surrounding by trees and birds….sounds like a dream man!

Good afternoon y'all. Welp I stuffed my face 'till I thought I might pop last night with glorious raw sea creatures. Had a great time with the Jen. We went to the same restaurant as we did on our first date. Here is a couple of pics of the feast . the close up is of uni (sea urchin) with the quail egg , one of my favorite things to get. Ok , back to knives. I finished a fighter yesterday but sadly while I was doing the finish grind I caught the knife on the belt so it smashed the edge on the work rest:mad: The good part of that is the edge did not crack and I now have a good reason to keep it for myself :).

Dude, you know that Coco'ro is only like 78 steps from my house, you shoulda come by and I would have given you a beer and Jen a shot! I'm sure Jen needs a shot once she realized its been 3 years....

Anyways, not findin my mojo today. Just kinda blah. I think I stayed up too late last night and got up to early. Wanted to get into the shop today, but wasn't feelin it. Great time to stay out of the shop.

But, I did teach the camera a new trick, I figured out how to control my speedlight completely wirelessly directly from the camera! Its so nice to take the flash off camera for better lighting, especially for impromptu portraits of the wild child. Now I can use all my studio lighting completely wireless from the camera through built-in optical slaves. I have some pretty cool little fill lights I've been dying to try out. Also building up my portrait studio kit, just a few things left and I'll be good to go!

Daniel, you should check out strobist.com, excellent blog for flash photography since the rainy/cloudy weather is coming soon.

Incredible! I wish you guys a good one! looks tasty... nice pics! thanks for sharing them Kevin!

I'll check that site X... it has been overcast and dark as can be here with rain every day. I like it but hard to get pics!

Ironwood and 52100 Petty... :D sneak preview! for sale tomorrow

Beautiful man!

Good day for me - I just picked up a new (to me) Subaru WRX. Nice to have a car that's fun to drive again! Pics if I ever get off my lazy butt.

Besides, I'm pretty sure I owe some pics of the last three knives to show up at my door step. ;)

I really enjoy my 4runner but the Subaru WRX is the car I want... will likely be my next ride. Nice score!!! Congrats!

Wrx would be sweet, but a Suzuki Escudo rally car is the car of my dreams! Check out the suzuki pikes peak climb videos, insane!

-X

Well yeah, an Escudo is insane. Frankly, I think anything running up Pikes Peak would rock - I'd love to rock that Ducati Multistrada Pikes Peak monster they ran a few years ago up there. Humminah humminah humminah!

Congratulations sbakker on the sweet new ride! I raced a wrx in the Santa cruz mountains one time. I had more Hp but he had me in the turns. I would almost pass him in a short straight and we would get back into the turns and he would just walk away from me. Those wrx's handle like a go cart on roids! Look at IPD's site if you want to spend a LOT of cash making your car really fast. Be safe in your new machine.
Good night vatos

Good morning guys! It went from Summer straight to Winter here... 28F out!

...yes the WRX is popular here, about half the people in the area drive a Subaru... I have had two of the station wagons and they were great. We took one on some gnarly four wheeling in St.Thomas. They are tops in the snow.

We are testing the compression on my '62 Ford soon... my father in law knows cars better than me and we might get it going! It might need a head gasket but hopefully not.

I'm doing email, pics and mail today... hopefully some grinding later! :D
