yes... I'm the sickest I have been in at least 10 years... flu I guess. I got some rest today and can not wait to feel better!


Those tantos came about in a few different ways...

The huge chopper was a design I came up with for maximum strength for chopping and splitting with the end. I have made two of them and they are both S7 steel with red g10. The straight edges are for ease of field sharpening. I heard some crazy stories about one decimating some logs... I really like S7!

The black one is black paper micarta and S7, I made it with a few things in mind. max strength to weight ratio, ultra light weight for a mega tough knife and ease of sharpening.

That's from memory... I need to go back and see what the third tanto is! lol Thanks Rolf! You know I like to talk knives.
 
The middle one with the speckled black handle is a DFK BFK with a pokey tool on the tang end. The handle material is neoprene rubber and feels great in the hand. It's 5160 steel with my special patterned patina on the blade.

I'm not sure but I think the black micarta one has been modded by a customer on the main grind.
 
Oh dear lord, Kevin is getting a cell phone?! Geeze, I hope he doesn't txt lik a ltl grl n B on it lik all the time. OMG! :D

Just wait dude, depending on what you got I'll show you how to train it to actually text like you speak...oh its great fun seeing the suggested words you have taught it when texting!

Just finishing up at work, last customers of the night walked in right at closing and just drug their feet all over. Didn't even leave until 15 minutes after I locked the doors.

Hey there, Daniel, got my Backpacker the other day and thought I'd share a pic. In the spirit of DIY as well as keeping this knife as unobtrusive as possible, I decided to just take an old driver's license and use it as a backing. I made the holes a slightly shorter distance apart than those on the sheath to bend it just enough to provide an extra bit of retention, assuring that neither gravity nor tearing about the woodland will take my Fairly knife from me. :)

Daniel, I used Parks 50 for that W2. One of these days I will grow a pair and do a brine quench haha.

I just cut an appropriately sized piece of plastic to go behind the strap on my pack, marked the holes, then used the awl on my SAK to drill the holes out.



...and chips.

I like the CC better than a teklok, that is way cool... minimalist and ultralight.

Checking in here, we just got in from a Dr's appointment... have great news later. :D

Kevin if I had Parks 50 the brine might only get used for chickens and stuff. Actually I like the brine as I like to live dangerously but P50 is where it is at! I need some satanite too, it sounds evil. lol :D All kidding aside your site and work is lookimg good! :cool:

Xander if I could get a phone to work out here you guys would be seeing only the suggested words, it would be like an all "mad libs" sentence. :D

Daniel, glad things are going well ;-) :thumbup: Phones and Kevin don't really get along, most people don't like talking to him, I mean he does sound like Louis Armstrong and Fran Dresher (kinda looks like he could be their kid too...)

Adam, that's pretty slick, I may do that with The Stinger sheath.

Been a little rough at home lately, my FIL (one of my resident couch bums) was told two days ago he will have to have his leg amputated and then the next day is rushed to the hospital for leg pain and they find a very large blood clot. He just got out of a second surgery a few hours ago and the docs said things went well, but with all his issues it's still gonna be rough. He keeps his leg for now, but will be watching it very closely for the next few months.

Ugh, visiting the father in law at the hospital right now. I hate hospitals. Spent way too much time here myself. But things are looking good for him right now!

Off work today, woohoo! Gonna find something to do.

Daniel, don't go too crazy with vitamin C, your body will only use what it needs and expel the rest, so it's flashing money down the drain, literally. Get better dude!
