I don't buy anything from Taiwan.

Sent from my iPhone running on silicon made by Taiwan Semiconductor.
Actually Foxconn is a Tawainiese company that is he biggest private employer in all of mainland China. Talk about strong bedfellows. We are going to invade you......as soon as you send this week's payroll to the million of our citizens that work for you. :D

Not supporting Mr. Thompson won't get you kicked off of a major forum where knife makers and dealers can make a lot of money.......just saying. ;)
I used to not buy any unless they were USA or Japan. Then I ran out of choices. I still won't buy China unless it's a disposable beater like an eland. The funny thing is there's people who support Burger but not Thompson.

jr88fan, you have obviously not paid attention to this thread and MANY, MANY others. :grumpy: I still wonder about the opinion of the many non-American members of this forum to the " I only buy American" posts. By the way, I DO prefer to buy American if what I want is offered, even if the cost is reasonably more.

I don't imagine they care, at least for the reason that I prefer to buy American. I would imagine a Taiwan member would prefer to buy Taiwan made goods, to support his economy. To help create a demand for the goods, create jobs, etc. And I would support him for that.

Man I would love to take you to school.

Simple economics mixed with a little politics, but sadly you will need to lose your job before you actually take a good look around and grab a hold of what's going on around you.

The bubble you're living in is comfortable until it runs out of air....

Infractions are not something I want, and either is getting this thread closed (even though I know it's well on it's way)

I am out.

Thanks for the heads up, Peacent. It's too bad the the thread jumped the rails. All this bickering belongs in "whine&cheese"

You heard him.

JR88FAN, Katanas, Peacent: take it to W&C! :D

I would love to take it to W&C but, sadly, I don't go there anymore. :( Some people who have Sooo little world experience think they can "school" those who have run international businesses, well, again W&C would set them straight. Another reason for the existence of that forum besides perversion. :p Over and out.

Thanks for the info.
What more info can be added to: fake knife, be aware, decide to buy or not? Anything else sounds like a breech of someone's safe space bubble. Lock it up. There's no unity here.

A Chinese copy of a Taiwanese knife. Wouldn't buy a knife from either country

It's funny because your iphone is made in Asia.

I understand that some people choose to support their own country, but you don't need to declare it in every topic about knife made outside USA, especially when topic isn't about - which brand you support or don't and why.

If there were phones made in America I would have bought one. Notice I said "when possible".

Phones are a good example. Almost every person has a smartphone. If, say, all IPhones were made in America, how many jobs would that create? Instead they are made by child labor in China working 16 hour days for less than a dollar an hour.

Maybe the kid that built my iPhone can work some overtime and build you a couple cold steel knives.

Did you know that Taiwan is distinct from China in its independence foremost but that it has followed a democratic model based off US policy since WWII and the following Chinese Civil War where it had been backed by US?

Taiwan is basically the biggest Chinatown of the US. It's the US consisting of Chinese. With the governing body being occupied by a succession of US educated Chinese American, mostly from Ivy League, top dollar education.

At one time, everything came from Taiwan for mass market. Not China, but the Republic of China (ROC) which is actually Taiwan and not China at all. China-US economic relations mostly began through Taiwan.

So, saying one wouldn't buy from Taiwan is like saying one wouldn't buy from the US in a way.

I don't tend to like Chinese knives, and you won't find any in my collection. Taiwan however, is a democratic country to my understanding, and so I do own and have purchased knives from there.

Also, Katanas, I am reading between the lines between your posts and have come to the conclusion that you specifically are offended when people say they don't want to buy a Chinese product. Well, you have that right. Others have the same right to make a simple comment, like some have here (and in other threads). Their reasons are their reasons.

If people worried about offending others anytime they opened their mouths, not a lot would be said, because people will always find a way to be offended about something. Just take it in stride and move on with your day, ya know?

I had a Spyderco Gayle Bradley Bowie (made in Taiwan) The f&f was superb! I've yet to see any knife that would match it's build quality. I'm big fan of Spyderco's Taiwanese fixed blades. The Proficient is at the top of my "must have" list.

The core processor in your iPhone is made in Austin, Texas..........by Samsung. ;) But seriously, if Apple wanted to, they could buy a major chip manufacturer like Texas Instruments 3 times over and pay with cash. But to be fair, even big first like Samsung that make a lot of the "parts" themselves still job out things like final assembly and a lot of their manufacturing is not done in South Korea.
