Chinese fakes - New alert!

Any one. Their corners are filled with nice, fellow law-abiding citizens, just like any on the corners in Greektown, Ukrainian Village, Little Italy, Korea Town, etc etc.

It appears some have convinced themselves that all folks of Chinese heritage, either here or abroad, are capable of doing is producing counterfeit items.
Oh. I was shopping for something...else. [emoji33]

Coming from families that worked extremely hard for their lot in life, I will never buy something counterfeit. It is a disrespect to those who work hard designing and manufacturing the genuine article.

I just wanted to give a heads up, not start a flame war about xenophoby, economy, fake coins and counterfeit goods!

You've been here for three years, you know full well that no one "owns" threads. You posted it, it's where it's at. Don't like it, lock it.

Of course, you might get reported for attempting to disrupt discourse. :)

I wouldn't buy fakes either. It does a major disservice to the many honest knifemakers and craftsmen trying to earn a living.

And I like to buy American, when feasible. This is my (our) country and sure it has its issues, but I am still proud to live here.

That being said, I have a Horizon by Reate and, to me at least, it's every bit as functional/well-made/high quality as some similarly valued knives from American makers. China has stepped up its game recently in manufacturing and CNC methods and it churns out some fine products.

I have a real adversity to clones, copies fakes whatever you want to call them. I would never buy one knowingly. There are a couple of sellers on the big auction site that sell CRK and Hinderer fakes and actually call them clones. I have personally reported them to CRK and the auction site and absolutely nothing was done about it. That said I have no adversity to imports as long as they are of good quality and do not steal the designs from other brands. A good example is Spyderco their Japanese and Taiwan made knives are some of their finest offerings. Like most of the folks here I do like a Made in the USA on anything I buy but these day it is not a deal breaker for me.

If I were a counterfeiter, I would LOVE to have "official warners" like the OP to spam advertising for my product all over knife forums. For every one person who might have been warned, there are 10 more sets of eyes that have now seen the pics as well as the web links embedded in them. Plus BF is prettily heavily ranked on search indexes, so it will help them immensely with Google hits. Congrats, OP, hope you are getting a sales commission.

those chinese blades look pretty good, ive always been impressed with the quality of the chinese crafted knifes. cuts good, works as well as any i ever used not these but others ive had made in the country. would say it hard to beat em for the money in my opinions just too bad they copying others designs.

The worst form of fakery are the ones that actually have the real company's name. That goes from copycat to counterfeit. On eBay are some, for example CRK clones. They actually say "Idaho Made," which is a federal crime for both eBay and the seller. This diminishes the value of YOUR investment. If it's hard to tell real from fake in a picture people will be less willing to part with good money to take a chance on a purchase.

Are we in whine and cheese or general? I don't see how these posts contribute anything.

I believe this is the general discussion area.

I was trying to ascertain what about cold steel counterfeit knifes was bothersome to palonej. Thank you for your concern.

If you were a bit more sensible you'd see there's no reason to do ad hominem attacks and criticism and sarcastic comments about me taking profit of this shameful situation and counterfeiting.
I have my share of true, real Cold Steels and many here know I am a big fan and supporter of the brand: some pics of my Cold Steels to enlighten you and just make the thread a bit more colorful

Most folks here share true love or enthusiasm for knives and sharp blades, and I'd like to believe most of them won't come here just looking for deals, spotting cheap fakes and ignoring buying counsel, advisory or other member's recommendations.

Peacent , nice CS collection. Love that Rajah 2. Is that still in production ? I've always wanted one but forgot about it until just now. I'll have to Google and see if I can find it.

Rajah II still in production, with updated CTS-BD1 steel

I love how you take like three or four pics of the same knives at slightly different angles and post up every one. Most people just pic the best one, and then post that. But not you! LOL
