Chinese Shirogorov clone

Always a touchy subject. Everyone enjoy what they enjoy.

A wonderful ideal !

Unfortunately many posters seem to mainly enjoy attacking others for what they enjoy , not sure exactly why ? Neurotic fear of replicas?

So everyone should just do what they like? Imagine you we applied that logic to other areas of society. Hey, you enjoy driving with your eyes closed, go ahead man, everyone just enjoy what you enjoy!

The stance of this forum on this subject is very clear.

"As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby, no fake or homage items may be sold on the Exchange."

This kind of garbage hurts this hobby. You can disagree all you want but you are wrong

I exercise my right to disagree and I very much doubt your qualifications to be the final arbiter of right vs wrong in any sense of those words !

The rules of the forum are the right of the controllers to establish and enforce as they see fit . That in no way makes their opinions gospel truth to the entire knife collecting universe .

Look, not much else to tell you. This place you are a member of is telling you with the rules you agreed to follow that you are wrong. Sorry. If you don't like it you can always try to find a different forum that is fine with supporting theft.

I have NOT violated any rule of which I'm aware . There is no theft involved in my purchases or anything remotely illegal or immoral . I honestly believe you should seek professional help !

I don't know that you broke any rules, but it's similar to strolling into a Rolex forum and start chatting about your knock off Rolex..

Not really the intention of the forum to discuss such "pieces"

Agreed, there lies the biggest problem with BF I've witnessed time and time again over the years. On this forum, you get singled out and stoned by the mob if you do not fall in line with the establishment's thinking/value/preferences etc...

I normally don't comment on these type of threads because so many people get bend out of shape about "China", "buy American", "clones" whatever... I categorize these type of people into the innocently uninformed, the naive and hard headed ignorant bunch.

The truth is, ideas and the imitation and copying of ideas is what propels the human civilization forward. Look at our history, every time man invents something new, others copy it, adapt it, enhance it, refine it, and that's what technological progress is all about. Be it mathematics, science, technology, design, what have you:

Who invented the wheel? Probably before the existence of city states.

Should Albert Einstein or any other scientist or mathematician get paid every time their formula for math or chemistry or physics gets used in the development of something new?

The famous Viking sword marked Wulfbert, known for it's quality was widely copied and forged during the Viking age.

Chinese invented gun powder and the first gun powder based weapons, western countries refined the gun powdered weaponry and used it to brutalize and colonize much of China and other states during the 1800's. Should the Chinese bitch and moan and get financial compensation for the western powers' use of their invention to subjugate their people?

The 1911 pistol invented by Browning and initially made by Colt is now manufactured by so many countries and companies. Now how many of you guys here own 1911 pistols that's not a Colt, if you do you're then a hypocrite.

The same thing can be said for Glock pistols (if you own a polymer pistol other than a Glock, that make you a hypocrite also) and countless other items/technology.

I understand the modern copy rights and patents, even by law those patents/copy rights expires after a set amount of years. One reason is to give the inventor proper financial reimbursement for their invention, another is to allow the invention to be available to all to reduce cost and benefit all man.

Furthermore, "buying American" does nothing for this country's economics and it can not reverse the tide of history. American has not been a manufacturing hub for many decades simply because of higher labor cost and environmental/labor/tax laws.

"Buying American" is a choice some makes, just as "buying Chinese" is the choice others do. We should not condemn anyone for how they spent their money and enforce our own values on them.

This is not a valid argument as this is blade forums and not Shirogorov forums.

Also, how many companies and watch designs now sports the Rolex Submariner design? A lot, and by legitimate companies. Are those knock off Rolex? I don't think so. I bet you have a few watches with the Submariner design cues (just about any diver watch for that matter) that's not a Rolex.

That's exactly how the world works, everyone does what they want. If everyone obeys the law then I would be out of a job and the world would be a perfect UTOPIA!

I HATE clones, fakes, illegal copies of knives, and hope the people responsible for them catch several terrible terrible venereal diseases. They are bad for the market hurting the reputation of the original makers, and even though it is not marked it can be passed off as an original to someone who does not know better (I have seen this several times personally). If someone has $60 to spend on a knife buy a Spyderco or something and not some communist piece of shit fake.

Give me one reason why I need to support the company that for the piece of steel and some plastic asking me to pay $ 900 ?

You've got to be kidding. Why would I need to seek professional help? Because just like powers at be here I don't approve of counterfeiting? It is immoral and illegal to support counterfeiting. Deal with it.

No. There are rules and laws everywhere you go that have consciences if you break them. Just because you don't get caught doesn't make it okay. Sorry to here your job is tied to illegal activity. Hopefully you choose to change that in the near future.

So you are going to support theft instead?

Yes , I will buy a clone . And I will not feel sorry for a company that is trying to sell me piece of steel for $ 900 ! They earn enough money , let them solve the problem with thieves and clone ..........it s not my problem !

Let me put it right . When I decide to spend $ 900 for a knife , that will be a knife from a knife maker from this forum . And I will pay this kind of money not for the magic steel but for his skill in making knife.... BUT I will never give that kind of money to Brand .... company that on machine produces thousands of identical knives. . . . .Until then clone knife is quite sufficient for my needs , and I not feel shame for that .

Welp, if you support counterfeiting you hurt this hobby. That is the opinion of this forum. Again, deal with it.

Ok , but tell me who is the real theft ? 4 inch steel for 900 $ ? I support my wallet ...............

Hey crabby ! It's YOU that hurts the hobby by being exclusive and tiny tent . It's perfectly valid to love and collect replicas that are obviously fake . Just like a fine art print of a Rembrandt does not hurt art collecting-in fact it HELPS !

You don't have to buy the $900 knife. There are plenty of quality inexpensive knives to buy that are not counterfeits. Supporting counterfeiting is a choice you don't have to make.
