CHRISTMAS KITH - Not a Sticky anymore

Damascus from Alabama Damascus in a "Alabama Buckshot pattern, 9 1/2" overall, 4 1/4" blade, handle is mammoth bone with brass and buffalo horn spacers

Hate to be a nag, but of the 34 people that said "I'm in" we only have 9 that have checked in a done, with about a week left to go. I surely hope the rest of the folks are making good progress. I know we had one or two that bowed out, but many more remain... a mystery. ;)

Seriously, guys. You are 9 done with 34 signed up, or 26 percent done, and the Newbies are 7 done with 20 signed up, for 35 percent finished. are you going to be outdone by the newbies?

My santoku's blade is hand sanded, the handle is glued on and roughed out. Should be finished this weekend.

Shoot, 26 percent done with a week left! I think that's pretty amazing actually. Tells me that many of us have way too much free time right now. Most of us work on knifemaker-time, which is just like regular time only half as fast :D A deadline in knifemaker-time means no sleep on the night before the deadline and heading out to the post office at 4:30 holding the sheath out the car window hoping it'll dry by the time you get there.

I predict a bunch of pics roll in on the first with captions saying stuff like "Just need to make a sheath and she's ready to go" and "Soon as I put an edge on her" or "I was going to take it to 1500 grit but it's a user and 400 looks pretty good too" :D

I had planned on having mine done a week earlier than I did, I guess I need to put more on my plate so I can be a real knifemaker:p

Lol you guys are a hoot :D I;m taking a break from making the sheath... my done pic will be up later tonight

I'm Ready

Well almost, working on the sheath now but I have the box and it will go out on time.

Lots of nice knives this year, looks like it's going to be a nice Christmas for lots of folks!!!!

Here is mine, a Vest Pocket Fighter made from Aldo's 1095H, stainless guard, and stabilized Black line Spalted Maple. It's 9 7/8 inches AOL with a 5 1/2 inch blade.

We are moveing a post from one KITH to the other.

R.Rock (Steve) has a wonderful entry that fits this KITh better than the other.

Well here is my entry, it's not perfect but I like the way it turned out. This has been fun to say the least, thanks to the powers that be for putting this on.

Forged W2
Handle is Black g10 bolster then Orange/White/Orange G10 and Osage orange w/ black g10 liners and stainless pins

It was suggested that I was overqualified for the "newbie kith", and that I should request the move, I hope that my entry is up to snuff with you guys and truly apreciate the chance to be invovled with the Christmas KITH.

I will be making either a gift box or sheath for this entry, man, I just don't want to disapoint anyone.

Agreed Welcome Steve, and Great lookin Blade :D

Here's mine, It's finished, I cant take a good picture to save my life :( but trust it looks even better in person. The blade is Aldo's skinny W2. a special melt he had made to Don Hanson's W2 specs. the hamon in this blade is ridiculous, It's like you can see inside the steel like a highly polished moss agate. It's 5" blade 5" handle for 10" O.A.L. Handle scales are buffalo bark from USA Knifemaker. w/ the requisite lipstick, peened and polished brass pins, and file worked spine. The handle is a mottled black and dark brown so the sheath was made that way as well. hope whoever gets this knife enjoys it and uses it :D

Here's mine. Several firsts in it: first santoku, first stainless (AEB-L) blade, first use of
the swamp salvaged redwood burl I had WSSI stabilize for me, first Corby bolts.

Santoku
6 3/4" AEB-L blade, Peters Heat Treat

Oh, I added one late in progress picture just for fun.
