Heeeeeeere we go!

Black G10 scales, 1/8" thick 8670M blade.
2 5/8" edge
6 7/8" overall

It's a copy of a knife I made a few years ago that I wear around the house on weekends for honey-dos. It's more comfortable and handier than I thought it would be when I made it; I hope someone else finds the same to be true!

Nice! it does look handy. I can see Jonny getting excited about this one. He's always up for a wharny/sheeps foot.

I'm ready, at last. Needed the extra time due to some unexpected problems, not related to the knife. Any way, here's my knife and the spec's. The handle will look a tad better tomorrow after it's buffed and has a couple of coats of wax. Wanted to get the photos ASAP and stay in this kith. The steel is 1095, flat grind, light etch. Handle is really nice curly maple. The guard is forged 1095 and blued to a deep indigo color with buffalo horn spacer and the pin is also 1095. Kinda wanted to stay with the same steel all the way through.
OAL: 12"
Blade to guard: 7"
Width: 1 1/2"
Thickness: 5/32"

If that thing gets to lookin' any better, it's gonna pop someones eyes out! That's one seriously good lookin knife! It's what I think of when I think of a bowie!!

These all look awesome. I am going to make it a goal of mine to be able to join a "Christmas KITH"

Ok, just wanted to post an update. I am finishing hand sanding right now. Been having a few complications with the wifes pregnancy, and that has kept me away from the shop a lot. I will hope to have pics up tomorrow night, but if not it will be sometime Monday. I spoke to Stacy about this, and we are all good.

Thanks
Mike

Mike, Take care of what is Important. We would love to see your entry completed but understand things happen. You and your family are in my thoughts!

Yes, I spoke with Mike, and he will have it done, just won't have photos up for a day or two.
He is taking care of what is important...and photos are not as important as taking care of his wife and their baby.
I added him to the list.

In a few days, these people ( plus any I add by tomorrow morning) will get the below email ( with recipient info inserted).

Here is your KITH recipient.

NAME AND INFO

Pack the knife securely in a mailing box ( USPS Medium Flat Rate Box or similar recommended) and ship it within five days ( if possible).

Send it with insurance and a tracking number ( delivery confirmation).

Email me the tracking number, so I can keep track of the knives and know when all are sent and delivered.
sapelt@cox.net

If mailing to an international destination, check with the post office about the special papers needed. Fill out the description as KNIFE, and the value as $100 ( or as you determine the value). Mark the item as GIFT.

Put in a letter or note about the knife and any thing that you would like the recipient to know is a good idea. Include your email and phone number if you wish, so he can contact you directly with comments and questions.
If you make certificates for your knives, put that in, too.

Thank you for participating in the 2011 Christmas KITH.

Start getting your knife ready to ship this week. If we all get them out soon, everyone should have a nice box under their tree....Yeah, Right, like any of these will sit around unopened for a week or two!

When the shipping info has been sent to all, I will put up a "WOO-HOO, My Christmas KITH Knife Has Arrived" thread.

When your knife comes, email the sender and me to let us know you have it, and post in the Woo-Hoo thread.

Well since there are two of us international guys in on this I just thought I would post a link to the mailing deadline charts for convenience. I know for me I can get my parcel to anyone on the list in time for Christmas.

On the topic of international. I'd just like to warn that folders and daggers will have a very hard time getting into Australia. Technically Stan's slip joint shouldn't be a problem but sillier things have happened. Greg's dagger most probably wouldn't get through.

I don't know what you can do about it, since it's a random draw. Just thought I better mention it.

Hey Tim,If I do get your name I'll just send the festive backdrop since you liked it so much:rolleyes::D
Stan

Did not think I would make it with all going on but glad to say I am done if just under the wire!

GidgeeCBC.jpg

Blade is 4.5" x 3/16" 1084, full flat grind, convex edge. Scales are 4.5" Ringed Gidgee w/ coke bottle shape, Antiqued copper pin and tube. Simple deep fold over sheath of black dyed 8oz veggie tanned leather.

Please excuse the poor photo - hope to have time for a better one later tonight.

Cheers,
Klammer

Are we talking midnight Eastern or midnight Pacific here? Either way I'm going to be right under the wire with mine.

Haha, thanks Stan. Maybe just wrap the knife up in it. Surely there couldn't be anything sinister wrapped in something so festive!

Midnight pacific . I will check Monday morning when I get up ( about 6AM Eastern) and that will be all that are in this year.

I always check the draw, and can make changes if needed for knife type, Tiiiiim. I'll make sure that anything going to Australia is postal acceptable. Even with the exception of those type of things, the draw is still random. If I got a mismatch, I would just run the names through random.org again and see if it works out better the second time. So far I have never had to change it at all, but that is the backup plan if needed.
