It would make sense that you'd have trouble accessing such a traumatic memory without some re-integration therapy. I'm totally convinced.

I'm thinking so. The more I think about it, it's hard to believe a grizzly was wielding a BK9...

So I decided to give Harry's Razors a try and placed an order and when I did I filled out a quick survey and told them that I shave my head. Unfortunately I didn't realize until the package arrived that they recommend against using their razors on your head but I went ahead and did it anyway and it turned out fine and the razor worked great. This morning I got an email from them out of the blue offering a refund because I'm a head shaver, I never contacted them about it at all. So if you've been thinking about trying them go for it. The razor wasn't leaps and bounds better than the Mach 3 I was using before but it is a slight improvement and they're good people to deal with. Plus it's a subscription service so the stuff automatically gets sent to you based on how often you tell them you shave so you don't have to and go to the store and find an employee to call the other employee with the key to the open the razor case just to spend 2 bucks a blade.

Dubz, say that Tradewater did the surgery for you with a quick swipe of a BK9 and then used the knife to kill a grizz and carve a needle from one of it's bones to do the stitches.

Ah, yes, Tradewater...

Looking good Bladite. I know that's a lot of work right there.

quite a bit of fun too, but hours and days and weeks :D

your eyes. haunting. like an avocado had relations with ... oh wait, that's Deadpool :D

Nice lids, Dubz!

This weekend, I spent some time at a nearby bluff trying out a new length of Sterling HTP 9mm rope. Here's a wrap 3, pull 2. I also tried a new carabiner to set anchor: Rock Exotica Pirate Screw-Lock.

A slight redirect helped give me the right angle off the edge and prevented the rope from deflecting around that little tree in the foreground. Also used a Rock Exotica Pirate here.

The second smaller line in the pics above is a new safety tether system I put together with 6mm cordage and two 4mm prusiks for adjustment. It worked great while I was setting edge protection and while I was loading and locking off my descender. Here's a picture of how it works.

Since I was rappelling alone, I used an autoblock.

I spent my time practicing changeovers between descending and ascending, all with the the Sterling ATS.

Here's the little practice bluff--probably 25' or so. I might take a tape with me next time to measure. I climbed it (completely ascended rope) a couple of times.

Packed up and ready to head back home.

I love doing that type of work. The wife and I were in the hills for a bit, bucking logs, and splitting by hand. A lot of work for what little it yielded, haha, Yes, haunting indeed.

Nice lids, Dubz!

Haha, thanks man.

Cool setup, Biscuit - I'm curious what you're using for ascenders....

Oh....there's some, ah.....interesting discussion going on about an unhappy BK-5 in the non-sticky part of the sub. A #8 welder's glass should be sufficient for safe viewing.

My comments in RED, cuz, I'm cool that way

I'll have to look that one up, new to me

redirects are a major tool in the trade for climbing arborists, y'all should see some of their kit, esp since it can be set from the ground!!!

can you explain the weirdness of the prusik cordage attaching to the carabiner?

check out this: http://www.rockexotica.com/aztek/ and the assembly instructions - putting captive prusiks inline to the system. i have the aztek, the shock system they use is very interesting, and reminds me of your prusik there.

i somewhat prefer the Petzl mechanical version of what that does, but i'll have to google yours (or youtube) for details).

there's lots of super cool things arborists have borrowed from all the climbing arts, but esp the varieties of prusiks, and attachment knots. it rocks.

the ATS looks pretty interesting. i don't have one as such, was thinking more classical, but it has utiliity; though i do have a dual-rope descender for self-resuce in case i need it. some of the dual ascenders are pretty sweet (i'm training mostly on Ddrt, though SRT is next)...

tree stuff dot com in case you wanna check out the world of trees

Bladite, the tether with prusiks is pretty simple. I have about 35' of cordage, and the prusiks allow me to move up and down that length with a secure grab on the cord, wherever I stop. I picked up the idea from a wilderness rescue instructor in NC. Here's his.

The Aztec set is a great piece of kit but pricey. I've used it. However, I made my own set-of-fours (red cordage on double pulleys below). Most handy in a variety of scenarios.

Oh yeah, in that last pic, I was hauling my daughter up into a tree with the set-of-fours. You're also seeing progress capture with the two prusiks (on the silver 'biner), and the ATS is for lowering her down. Variation of an RPM system.

Catching up on snark.

Nice looking deer

glad the surgery went well Warrior!

climbing stuff is cool.

Happy Birthday WW!

Try some tea bags to reduce the swelling?

For the last 2 days, I had an ice pack on my eyes every 45 minutes, for 15 minutes. Starting today, I have to place a warm wash cloth over my eyes 4 times per day, to promote healing. The doctor said that starting today, it would be more swollen and bruised. Guess he knew what he was talking about. Be glad when it heals.

When I first got home, I was nauseous from the anesthesia. Threw up even. There was a little pain involved, but later, no pain at all. I haven't taken Tylenol, or anything for pain. Not needed. It just feels odd, with the stitches in. They're the dissolving kind. I have to return to work next Tuesday. For the time being, I'm supposed to relax, and not lift anything over 20 lbs, so the wife has to do the lifting when I go pee. :D

No, not that perv, the toilet seat is heavy, haha. :D
