My roll stamped 17 came today! Wish I could have swung a couple of them!

First real cold of the season and everyone seems to be thinking about chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Or something.

prepping corned beef for the smoker.
recoil therapy later.

great combo.
I was hoping for some recoil therapy this morning, but it's clearly way past morning. The new scope on the .30-30 needs to be wrung out.

Attended an event with a client yesterday. Most sucky event ever. Boring af. It was 4 hours of the most boring presentation ever.
So then I get out of the theater, 'where's my car?'...
Apparently, I had parked on a handicapped spot. Didn't even see it. The plate that indicated it was somewhat overgrown.
180 euro's to get my car back from the towing company, and the fine will be sent post factum to my home address, another 150 euros. So I'm out like 350 usd.
Thanks Obama.

Hey, now.....take that over to Whine & Cheese ;).

Sorry about your ride, G. At least here in the good ole confederacy, tow companies let you barter for your vehicle (think: hostage negotiation) until your ride has been impounded for a couple days and the "interest" has compounded. All because of a DMV mistake causing a citation for an unregistered vehicle that you rightly contest - only, the ticket gets sent to an apartment in another state you haven't lived at for over a year. This then leads to a court date you miss because the notice ALSO goes to the aforementioned out of state apartment, leading to a suspended driver's license which you only find out about after getting pulled over for speeding - and you find yourself handcuffed and stuffed into the back of a cruiser, with your new motorcycle in tow (damaged by the tow company, for which you never receive restitution). So: unpaid original citation+speeding ticket+driving with suspended license+getting MC out of impound+fixing MC=$$$$$$$$$$. That and the marks on your driving record.

True story - this happened to my brother.

At least he had the means and intelligence to show up in court and argue his case, though it still cost him several hundred dollars and he still had to pay for repairs to his MC. Lucky also for him is his place in the social order - the discussion of which will not ensue here - and the very non-minority state in which we live.

Sorry for the loss of your $$, G. Too bad you live in such a rigid, orderly system....

As much as I hate to do it, I might have to get a credit card so I can get my trucks fixed up before we get too deep into winter. I got a bunch of money coming to me but I need to get this stuff done before the roads get slick. So much to being debt-free.

That's deep, GSOM :D...

I don't think he thought so.....there were plenty of "airing of grievances!" regarding the local college town PD and the rest of the system - as he said: "I should have just gotten the speeding ticket, which I deserved - but the rest of it?" The judge basically told him, too bad, so sad - shut up, write the check and be thankful it isn't going to be worse. The whole thing started because the DMV screwed up the paperwork on a bike he had left in storage while he was on the west coast, and the east coast officer who cited him for driving an unregistered vehicle (which it was not - see DMV screw-up) failed to do his job. A year later, the excrement came in contact with the rotating air circulator.

Sucks bigtime... That truly is an example of everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong.

make the client pay for it. one way or another ;)

business expense.

tax write off?

sue the place that had the over grown bushes ;)

sue everybody. except me. that's snark. can't be having that.

Looool. Sue the host of the event for hosting the event in a place where they tow cars away. Honestly though, that stuff only happens in the bigger cities, I've never seen it in the smaller towns like the one where I live. Oh well. Lessons learned: avoid visiting cities by car.

Well, winter has finally arrived up here. Flurries. We had a good run of warm weather up till now.

Just started planning our X-Mas and New Year trip. Will likely be down at Cloudland Canyon state park in Georgia.

Climbing during the days and hunkering down by the campfire in eve. Love this part of the US.
