Cold Steel 2013 Lineup/New Products

Those code4's look nice but ffs Cold Steel how hard is it to get it right?

- FFG instead of that f***ing hollow grind
- G10 scales instead of "grivory" (aka plastic) or aluminium
- Satin finish instead of cheapo teflon or stone wash
- A functional sharpening choil and finished edges

... and I don't even care about the AUS-8 because I know how to sharpen.

With these simple, simple mods the Recon, Voyager and American Lawman series would've been HUGE hits. Like... "blow the competitions entry-ranges out of the water" hits.

Get it right already....

Barong: Work tool or fighter?

Yes. The answer is yes. :p

Well, princably a tool, can be used to fight. -and often has!

I am a lover of all Asian leaf-shaped knives and have studied FMAs and Silat. I own several, whether named barong, parang, bolo, whatever.

No guard.on it though!

Darn tootin'! :D

Smat-chet! Smat-chet! Smat-chet! Smat-chet!

Edit: When I saw they had trademarked "Smatchet" I was really hoping it would be like the Trailmaster, seems like they're only pumping out machetes lately. I would have killed for a Smatchet in satin SK5.
That's what I was hoping as well. It seems to me that they could offer an SK5 Smatchet for the price of a Gurhka kukri which seems to sell well at that price.

Cold Steel always has at least a few very cool items in their line-ups. I was thinking of getting a large counterpoint, but I was hoping they would come out with an XL version, so now I'm glad I waited. I also really like the folding Talwar.
Actually, as virtually every year, I like the majority of the new products they're offering.

I'm going to guess South Africa like they've done with their other recent machetes. They have a well-established relationship with Lasher Tools and after the whole Chinese factory fire I think they want to just keep things simple.

Looks like I have a few more CS to pick up. Regular Recon 1 is a pretty big knife, but of course CS had to make a larger version. I guess I better get a second job now...

Eventually, they'll be releasing a version that matches Lynn Thompson's shirt size.

NEW FOR 2014: COLD STEEL RECON 1 XXXXXXXXXL :D

Counter Point XL, spear point Code 4, and Warcraft Tanto for me. If CS follows last year's release schedule, I'll have almost a year to save up the cash for them too. :D

Here is a preview of the 2013 lineup. there are other new items I believe that are not listed yet.

Code-4 Spear Point

no shadow must be extra stealth!!! code4 spear will be on my radar for 2013
smatchet looks cool too. barong looks like a rehandle of their current model

wOW an all terrain corn knife!

Bwahahahaha that's just what I thought when I saw it. For harvesting corn in the most EXTREME environments. For high-speed low-drag tactical farmers only. :D I'm sure they'll sell a bunch of them though. :o

The "Proof" video on the Warcraft is going to be absolutely ridiculous, considering it's CPM 3V versus their usual AUS8. I'm very well expecting Lynn C. Thompson to use it to cut through the crust of Earth.

I missed this. 3V really? I looks like it might make a good "entry" or raiding tool.
