Dayummm that knife is like Heeeaaavy!!:D:D

Sorry if I offended anyone else, I was just really angry, I felt like they were trying to say that they were better that Himalayan Imports or something.......

This thread would be more fun in Whine&Cheese.

Then we could start swearing like drunken sailors.

John79,
Thank You. That was the right thing to do.
I agree with their advertising and selling practices ... not all that credible.
Just remember, most major manufacturers and their sales outlets have about the same ... little to none .... just let it go ......
Again, ...Thank You,
JGarth

you guys are missing the advertisement. Lynn is not lying. His Kooky is heavier because it is made of depleted uranium core sandwiched by VG10. As we all know Uranium is one of the heaviest elements in the periodic table so in essence it is heavier. I think someone said it also glows in the dark.

Something's not adding up here.

We sell a truly breathtaking amount of Cold Steel (I wish I could put up a number, but no one would believe it) and they are the single most reviled knife company in the history of this site. It's like Bear Grylls (if he had American Idol ratings).

So confess, people. Do you hate their knives but buy them anyway? They couldn't move the type of numbers they do and not do any business Blade Forums members, could they? Really, I have to know this!

As for the quality, I'm kind of neutral if that's possible. Nice fixed blades, clunky (if stout) folders, and marketing that's equal parts hysterical and appalling. I don't like them nearly as much as my faves (Al Mar and Spyderco), but some decent stuff if you can tune out the hype.

Bubinga,

Its kind of a pain because they offer alot of neat toys that no one else offers certain pole axes, rifle club, spears, good blowguns etc so I like buying that kind of stuff. I only own a few knives from them, the khuks a Trailmaster, a Recon clip point folder, arc angel and a few more. Well it feels like a few to me. Anyway its there marketing techniques and what not that piss us off. If they would just be honest then it would not be an issue. I do like some of there products but calling something that its not is lying, and its not appreciated.

this one's easy, define 'the market'

and CS doesn't make knives, whatever companies do (like Camillus used to) makes some pretty good ones.

I'm indifferent to the knives. As far as the hype goes, he is his best friend and worst enemy. I've seen tons of guys buy them based on the ads and the videos. I've also seen people who don't know anything about the product buy them because they were nice knives.

He has created a decent amount of ill will amoung certain large factions of knife buying and making public for 20 plus years with that stuff.

The Gurkha Kukri’s VG-1 San Mai III¨ blade will out-chop any factory or handmade knives; including swords twice its size, even expensive, hand forged Japanese Katanas.
That's hype. Hype is fair play in advertising.

It’s the heaviest Kukri on the market
That's crossed the line from hype to falsehood.

For the last YEAR and a HALF I have seen an ad on Yahoo home page saying "interest rates are at an all time LOW!!!"
That is certainly not the case

I think Cold Steel dude can say whatever he wants
It's up to the knowledgeable consumer to filter through the BS
Buyer Beware (i can't remember the latin phrase off the top of my head)
I mean if you believed everything in advertising====>
THE GINSU is the BEST fixed blade KNIFE!!!..Period!!!
(did you see the way it cut through that can??!!!...wow!!! amazing!!!!)

I'm always amazed at how whiney folks around here can be when it comes to Cold Steel. It really is ridiculous.

The most ridiculous criticism that always seems to be regurgitated is "CS doesn't make knives", a charge that can be leveled against most of Spyderco's best selling lineup.

But Sal is a respectable person who does not make exaggerated videos or resort to mean-spirited advertising against other knife-makers.

Cold Steel's market is more the masses rather than the knife-nuts. While Cold Steel has some interesting stuff they get made, I will not buy any Cold Steel products.
