Cold Steel= flat out liars

You won't like this, but China is the largest manufacturer of semiconductors in the world. So your TV, Computer, calculator, IPOD, stereo, DVD player, Game Boy, Car, Mall Ninja laser sights, all have Chinese devices in them.

To blame Cold Steel alone for offshoring only shows the irrationality of the Clan of Cold Steel Haters. (COCH's) I know Buck offshores, I am wondering if Case does, all those branded "Winchester", "Smith and Wesson", "Old Timer" knives are made in China, but I have not read diatribes from the COCH'S about that.

This is a National issue and the only way to "fix" it is at the ballet box, and then you get to pay higher prices!

But do COCH'S vote? Or just howl at the Moon?

I fully realize a lot of items are made in China almost exclusively but the items I buy that I have a choice I do choose the ones made in a country with better human rights. I own some USA made Cold Steel as well as USA made Buck and others that are now outsourcing to China for at least part of their line. If China had a better record of human rights I'd have no problem buying anything from there. I don't hate Cold Steel anymore than I hate any USA based company that feels it has to, or even is forced to take its manufacturing to China. You are right about it being a problem that could only be fixed at the ballot box, but I'd gladly pay higher prices to keep jobs here instead of going to China where workers are paid 10 cents an hour and over worked. If you have ever seen what really goes on in those plants maybe you'd feel like a few more dollars isn't such a big deal. I don't think too many of the workers there are very happy being treated the way they are. Of course they aren't allowed to say a word and they can be replaced very quickly so what can they do?

Case does not, without question, outsource. Aside from the runs of Case Classics made in Germany in the 90s, all Case knives are American. As for Old Timer, blame an unethical buyer of the name, not the old maker.

Yes, one of the few brands that is Truly ALL AMERICAN in everyway! Not many peopel know this actually, but Case knives has been owned by Zippo for a while now, about a decade...ALL zippos and ALL cases knives are made in Bradford, PA... :D

They have a very nice visitors center/museum...More so for Zippos, but it still has alot of nice Case stuff too! Anyone who can make it there to see it should take the trip, I thought it was worth it!

None of the Case Classics were made in Germany. Just a few contract patterns in 89 and 90 that were not part of the Case Classic line.

On another note:
Looks like our warning to keep the politics out of here is not working.

Please delete all my postings in this thread and then people will stop quoting me and debating me and I won't feel any need to respond. Maybe that will help?

You can delete them all yourself jill, it is not difficult. The Mods have enough to do.

I've got a bunch of their knives. From the folding half serrated tanto that I got from a buddy in baghdad (kick ass daily carry, and FREE because he was headed back to Britain) to the SRK I carried but almost never used except to open MRE's, to the el cheapo machete that lives in my boat's hanging locker, to the big a$$ed goofy looking short sword/scottish Dirk I bought my Dad to go with the square foot of Scotland my Mom bought him as a gag gift. Everything I've ever gotten from them was slightly overpriced, but built tough and out of good material. No beef with any of them except for putting out some pretty goofy "proof" videos.

Oh, and I give a crap where they're built. We Americans have made our country great by out competing the cheaper labor for over 200 years. The day we wuss out and beg big brother for protection from a bunch of enslaved chinese, we're not worth protecting. Don't talk to me about patriotism of buying American. That's not Patriotism. Patriotism in my book is finding a way to do it better, cheaper, faster and heck, even prettier than anybody else and then making a buck on it. You wanna know how, ask Henry Ford, Sam Colt, Rockefeller and any of the rest of the so-called "Robber Barons" who industrialized the country and made it into the powerhouse it is today.

Cheap foreign labor isn't a problem, it's a resource. The better we learn to use it to make our customers the world over happy, the better our lives will be while it lasts. And when that cheap foreign labor is rich enough that it's no longer cheap, then they can become our customers too. It's all just a matter of attitude, and I'm tired of seeing Americans whining about changes that nothing can be done about instead of rolling up their sleeves and adapting.

Harumph! :-)

As an aside, we only delete spam and offensive posts. (and our tolerance is high).

We have a political forum here where your political stance is welcome. It is not welcome in the knife discussion forums. I issued a warning for it to stop. Some chose to ignore the warning after it was posted so they were rewarded with minor infractions if they posted political statements after the warning.

This forum is for the discussion of knives. The political forum was created so we can keep "politics" out of knife discussion. It is much better that way. If that is ignored the infractions will become more serious and could affect the ability of some to participate here in the future.

I hate people that hate other peoples cultures and I hate the Canadians because they bombed the Baldwin Family.... ;)

Unable to respond as it gets into politics.:)

It won't get into politics if you stick to the economics of it as he did.
And you quit trying to stick your finger in some moderator's eye.

Is this knife related?

yes, because the Baldwins were Ninja type kifemakers. They owned Dark Ops knives and Canada, who was secretly supplying kives to Cold Steel, bombed them to get rid of the competition. Besides haven't you ever seen all the sweatshops in Canada where swedish maids are used as labor. Horrible I say.
