if i should fel offended, im sorry to dissapoint you, 3G man, i dont
first of all i was talking about that knife, the gi tanto, and not about every knife out there, and, second , i thought this forum is for opinions about knives, if you catch my drift
so, dear 3G, i would not buy for example a copy of mercworx seraphym, or o copy of any spyderco folder, but a copy of a large fixed blade , made of 1055 steel, of a blade i can chop happily in the forest and beat the hell out of it, any day of the week, i would and i did.

that doesnt make any sense.

you condone some copies, but not others?

Its not really any different than others do when you get down to how they rationalize something. Rationalization is human nature. Some see the obvious wrong doing of someone apparently stealing a design for example, yet they justfiy and even support others that apparently stole valor to sell their knives. Its a bit ironic in my opinion since both are theft. Isn't it funny how some show how they have justified a purchase or support for something or someone in their own mind but want to tell someone else that justifies the same way on a different item, person and purchase that its just wrong? The hypocrisy here is amusing.

Really? I tried chopping with the GI Tanto, and it totally sucks at that task. It is not a big knife, and it is far too light for a chopper.

A friend bought one. I agree that it is relatively poor as a chopper. Not enough weight and the balance is not forward.

As for freedom at BF to express opinions, that freedom includes the freedom to disagree with another's opinions - and rationalizations.

Far be it for me to speak for Steve, but I think he clearly was talking about those who defend Strider (the stolen valor reference) against Cold Steel, who steals designs. That's the hypocrisy he's referring to, or that's how I read his post.

you're probably right. i dont think the two situations are the same, but i certainly see str's point.

i also dont recall ever defending strider, but it read as though he were addressing me.

Here's where we need one of those "beating a dead horse" emoticons like Rammy has...

;)
Will the one above do ?
Furnished by Jos a few posts back.....

I was making a general statement. Your post simply brought it to mind so I quoted it. It was not in reference to you my friend. Just a comment about human nature to rationalize anything wrong to make it right. Goes back to the book, "Why am I afraid to tell you who I am" in a chapter going over rationlizing. "If I steal your wallet I know that is wrong but then if I steal your wallet I'll have all that money so that makes it all right!" My point was simply that you can't call foul for someone doing what you yourself do in life. (general statement not referring to you again as if you made it)

of cold steel....
bought a srk carbon V along with a ti-lite, i gotta say the srk is a damn good looking blade, also the ti lite, but i dont find it to be easy to carry , or to open, as comparing it to my delica , which in my opinion is the best EDC (IWB of course) ever made:D
i like the ti-lite , but i aint gonna carry it, kinda bulky and akward, still a beautiful knife though...

It just pisses me off ,because I'm a Strider feind. I buy high quality american Made knives. Emersons too. First they rip off the designs ,then make them in china, Then Talk sh#% about it on the website.

Actually, none of cold steels stuff is made in China. It all comes from South Africa, Taiwan, or Japan.

oh dear god. is this thing still alive?

interesting choice for a first post.

Trolls with many identities are hard to kill.

Unless you have a Lynn Thompson Cold Steel super-duper Blowgun!!!

It's still alive!!!!!!:eek::D
