However, I as a former armorer in the military; OrdnanceBubba as a former armorer in the military; and STR who is a well known and established maker and for all intents a civilian armorer; share quite different opinions of Cold Steel than yourself. Is it possible that we are not the drooling idiot, marketing slaves that you have painted Cold Steel owners as? Is it possible that our combined experience, along with that of many others, is greater than yours? These are simply rhetorical questions that I do not expect an answer to.

In affirmation of my position as someone who drools over magazines and knows nothing about knives, I today ordered a new generation CS Recon 1 with the marketing hyped tri-ad lock. I am sure I will take great glee in the knife as I try to figure out how to open it.

You see, this is what I mean by only a sucker buys them. Not only do they not realize there is better for cheeper they tell of their experance of why they think they know better. It is always people who were in force recon, green baret, supper power ranger number 3 that buys them and swears buy them. They tell stories of how they were deep in the jungles and that knife saved them.

I also need to add that part of the reason the price is so high is because they have to send magizenes to 200,000 people a year. 200,000 people drooling over costume knives and dreaming of jumping from an airplain with a cold steel knife tucked under their belt.

Fact is if you will tell me the cold steel product you want I will try to show you three knives that are better and cheeper.

Its like I said. Every sport has a group that just dont know better. In the knife world its the people that buy CS.

Thats just my opinino and I am now late for work. Have a good day.

What happened to their new San Mai line of folders with Triad locks that were pre-order items. I don't see them up for sale anymore.

They had production scheduling problems so they delayed them until 2011.

thankfully the voice of reason has arrived to set us all straight.

i paid $55 for a lawman and $60 for a recon 1 shipped. please tell me what i should have bought.

Sorry If its offending but I personally think its realy worrying that people's morale is low enough that they dont care about the owner of the product if they like the product.
Would you also buy a knife made by a serial killer or rapist if he made a awesome knife?

I despise Cold Steel becourse of alot of the stuff that is already said, especially their videos, they destructible things to their products and then tell you that you arent allowed to do the same as it will void the warranty, are they just destroying the knives for fun? It seems so course even if they can stand it, they obiviously cant since you arent allowed to do the same with them. I dont got a source for it but I've also heard that the scenes where the knife might break (stabbing through car doors, bending it, stabbing steel barrels etc) they film them several times course some of the knifes actually breaks and they use the shots where they are lucky that they dont, but who cares? They wont warrant it anyway if yours break by doing the same stuff.

I also think Lynn's lack of respect for animals is completely disgusting, in a world where food is getting harder to come by he chops up pigs with his machetes for the fun of it.
I would be much more inclined to buy a knife from a maker who send five pigs to someone who was starving than chopping them up with a knife.

I wont buy a product if I dont have respect for the company, same that I dont listen to White power music or Military nazi marches eventhough I like some of it.

Remember, everyone, "better" is a matter of preference.

You say product A is better. Someone comes along and recommends product B, citing that product A's materials and performance are inferior. In the spirit of open-mindedness, you try out product B, and find no considerable difference. They are wrong.

Tools are made to facilitate an individual's needs, not to live up to some universally codified standard. If after trying out different tools you feel that a particular tool suits your needs better than anything else, then there is no argument to be had.

okay pocket bushman show me 3 that are better & cheaper....................

I used to own several cold steel knives in the past. I still have a few. They are one of the few companies that sell production push daggers and fully serrated edges.

I used to own and carry a Medium Voyager back in the early 2000's but I traded it for an Endura, simply because I prefer the opening hole to the thumb stud, the clip was too small and extremely tight, and Cold Steel's serrations are by far the poorest on the market.

I have owned several Safekeepers and a small tanto Voyager over the years and have considered picking up another clip point medium Voyager simply because the blade shape is aesthetically appealing to me. I do want to try the clip point Recon at some point. However with money tight (new business) when I do get a new knife it probably will not be a Cold Steel. I prefer the functionality of the opening hole to other methods and when budgeting funds lean towards Spyderco.

i have always heard a lot of bad things about cold steel knives and i think they made a good product. is it the owner lynn thompson. what kind of guy is he?

fat bald retard who makes lame videos that 1. don't make any sense, 2. are completely invalid. But the knives are of good quality.....FOR THE PRICE.

Wow. All I can say is that after reading this, I have an over powering feeling to go out and hug some trees while belting out a rousing version of kum bi ya....

You're right, what would people who actually risked their lives for their country and depended their lives on their tools know.

Clearly they should have stayed in their bedrooms in front of their computer so they can better educate themselves on what works in the real world.

You must also find it outrageous that car companies crash brand new cars over and over for the sake of safety, then tell us it's not covered under warranty when we do it.

It's also quite hypocritical to say he lacks respect for animals(unless you don't eat any meat); just because you get your meat neatly packaged in a grocery store, that doesn't mean the animal wasn't kept inhumanely in a filthy crammed production line where they are fed chemicals and hormones to increase the meat producer's profits.

All this talk on LT personally reminded of this quote:

“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and I don't live to be. But, before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean.”

- Bob Marley

Bobby Craig has a point though.....Spyderco gets some blades made in Taiwan...you get S30V for steel, carbon fiber for scales, retails for $70-$90US.
With CS made in Taiwan, you get AUS8 and G10 for the same price.

What models are you talking about in specific?
