Here is a little tourist khuk I picked up. It's about 15" overall. The handle is pretty small compared to my HI stuff and I've included a comparison shot with a 16.5" WWII. Now I can really see how the HI knives are adapted for larger hands. The F&F of the knife is actually very good. The heat treat doesn't compare to HI but it's a nice well-made knife.

Phil- that's the same one I was given. Nepalese issue. That &@$*^!! pommel was the only issue with mine (except I snapped the tip off the tang, and had to boil the hilt for a half hour to loosen up the laha...)
Mine's pretty well heat treated and ground.image.jpg
Had to change out the pommel since the sheet metal one kept trying to slit my wrist.

Awesome Blue, I only have a couple belt knives because I can't wear them in public in this State, considered a "Weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm" LOL. As of this time I think they allow people to carry golf clubs still though. Where you are can you actually wear a belt knife out in public? So many places these days a common knife is forbidden, might scare the poor witless wonders. In fact Seattle is getting so that if you have a pocket knife and actually take it out of your pocket to, I don't know cut a box open, you can be charged with brandishing. I really hate the fact that tools like knives (forget about guns even) are considered scary to so many people these days. Really makes you wonder.

You can carry a sword on your back as long as you don't conceal it. Seattle proper has a 3 1/2" blade length maximum but I'm pretty sure that only applies if it's concealed.
It's sort of like open carry laws though, people will be nervous and call. You'll be stopped alot by officers and talked too. I don't believe in it myself.

I'm all about concealed and the surprise factor. My micro bowie is just over the 3 1/2" rule for Seattle but I'm carrying it anyhow.
Stupid laws are made to be broken or at least severely bent when needed.

Were good to 5 1/2 inches in TX and they dont distinguish between open or concealed carry at all. There are a few local municipalities like Corpus Christi and San Antonio that have their own ridiculous laws like no lock blades. I can carry the mini AK Bowie open if I want and its got to be around 11". I may just do that on occasion as soon as I can get my hands on one.

Careful Bawanna, I think you are referring to the "Furtively carries with intent to conceal " part of the law?
But please keep in mind this part:
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry... or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons This is the part that Seattle gets you with including their interpretation that "Dangerous knife" means any fixed-blade knife and any other knife having a blade more than three and one-half inches (3 1/2") in length. If anyone feels that you are a threat because you are carrying a knife then they can complain and it is a law that can get your CPL revoked if you lose the bet.

I never gamble darlin. Everything in Seattle causes me alarm. It's 5 years off my life every time I have to go there. If I don't get out of alive it won't because I don't have a good knife multiple guns and lots of boooolits.

Here is most of my H.I. collection on display. A few others aren't pictured. Sorry for the crappy photo.

In Virginia I read of a guy who was carrying a pocket knife clipped to his pocket. The police picked him up for whatever reason and told him they could get him for both concealing a weapon because the blade was hidden OR for brandishing a weapon because the clip was visible. They let him choose which one they'd charge him with. Isn't that nice?

if you give them any reason they can find a way to mess with you-- best advice is never give them an excuse and always be beneath notice :D

Wow, I vote for that as best use of a bookcase ever. LOL. Very nice collection Philllll.
LoL Bawanna, How you can hear just the Foxy in that chorus I will never know, they ALL singing to me.

Yep Gehazi/Blue, sadly the way the congress-critters write these rediculous laws is so ambiguous that cops are able to interpret them however they want and nothing you or I can do except try to stay out of view. That is why I do my best to remain invisible. Blend in and don't draw attention because there are people who feel it is their duty to tell a cop if they think you are carrying anything as scary as a box cutter these days. Imbeciles is what I call them when in polite company, LOL.

I think there's two things that end up getting you in trouble. One is doing something illegal or just plain stupid to grab the police's attention. That's obviously nobody's fault but your own. The second is just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's avoidable too to a certain extent, but not entirely. That's why I'd never carry a fixed blade or a "tactical" looking folder. The chances are higher that it'd get me into trouble rather than get me out of trouble.

That's very true. Most of the people who need to worry about these insanely stupid laws would be contacted for other reasons as well. They just ask for it. Profiling is of course considered non PC now days along with nearly everything else that could possibly be offensive to anyone.
But if it walks like a dirtbag, acts like a dirtbag, it's probably a dirtbag ya know.

The other big winner is folks that want to test law enforcement. Think they know the law better etc. They never win ever.
Be polite, be nice, stay under the radar, and if your a dirtbag, try to look normal and you'll have no problems.

Stay out of high dirtbag density areas like Seattle too. Of course there's so many there that it's easier to blend in and go unnoticed. Me I'd rather stay out of the big city above all else.

LOL Bawanna, I have to agree with you in the majority. However. while I find a whole lot less issues here than where I grew up, I would submit that there are also a few cops who just want to be asses, or have had a bad day and are human so take it out on you. While I don't have anything against police as a whole infact my mother was a dispatcher/officer in a small town in LA. And I recognize that every good cop tries hard to not let their day effect how they deal with the next incident but there limits and then there are the just plain bad. In every group there are better and worse. I always anticpate running into the worst, but still am polite and cooperative and usually you are right that goes a long ways to making the encounter better for BOTH sides.

As for avoidance. I actually know of a group of people who sit across from a FFL shop (he works out of his house but is fully licensed) and call the cops every time someone walks out of the place carrying a box. The cops know about them so don't pay attention to them anymore but my point is these are the type of people who call the cops and tell them you are "Brandishing a weapon" when you use a box cutter in your own alley way to cut up a box. And yes I have seen that happen. Cops didn't do anything once they talked to the poor guy but what if the person had been using a 3.5" folder to do it. techincally illegal in Seattle so...

As for avoiding Seattle, well if I could I would like the plague, but then I couldn't afford even the HI blades I have been able to get so far so... I guess I will have to keep working there for now and relying on my CPL and a tiny little knife to keep me safe.
