Collectorknives.net #85 SFO?

Went and took a few more photos. This one shows the whole knife to better effect I think.

I'd like to know how thick, say at the rear most pin & bolster, the liner lock version is. TIA. The yellow bone is quite stunning in the photos posted above.

Hi Folks,
Last night I asked for opinions about the one vs two blade models. Thanks to those of you who replied. Greatly appreciated.
Sonnemann, think you nailed it. The spear blade and balloon......
I have been using the JBF #85. Today I got my ivory bone version two blade. Wow, this EO makes this almost a different knife. This is truly a nice knife. Yes, I'm new here and my experience is limited.
Though I still may buy the single blade I'm going to order one of the yellow bone models and then go from there.
Thanks again....
Regards,
George

I think it's a new favorite for me. The feathering in the buffalo horn is tough to capture but lovely in the flesh. Great job GEC and big thanks to Mike.

That is beautiful. The variegation is changing my previous opinion of buffalo horn as a bland choice.

Got my knife.

Opened the package and found a Buffalo Horn #85 EO Jack.

I had reserved an African Blackwood.

I looked at my invoice.... Buffalo Horn.... Checked my email.... Buffalo Horn.... I must have ordered Buffalo Horn on accident. No more African Blackwood Jacks. How did I do this?

Those are beautiful. Could you or anyone else give some more photos and impressions of the smooth ivory bone? I do not have any knives with this and it looks nice almost translucent??

Thanks,

Kevin

Knifeswapper,

It is few and far between that the actual product once received is better than what you imagined. Awesome knife, should have bought 2! Thanks Mike, for all the help.

I received one of the two-blade jacks in Blackwood this afternoon, and have been spending most of the time since getting the knife ready for service. Flushed it out and reprofiled the blades, and it's ready for action. I love the EO notch, and adding the coping blade was pure genius. This one is going to be splitting watch-pocket time with my ebony TC barlow, and that's saying something, because I really love that barlow :D

Mine arrives at evening and ,fails me in some degree.

First the "Ivory Bone" is not so shiny as they appeared in GEC's photo and the spin of the main is very sharp. I may safely say that this is the "sharpest" among my 4 NFs and other 3 GECs.

Also the pull is too weak. Trust me its not about leverage , just weak .

Maybe it is because I had been looking for a EZ open with coping second for too long and , my love to #85 has never changed but I never own one before this even it is #85 converted me to a GEC fan. :(

It worths every penny on it ,but I still prefer my Bullnose ,and waiting for some kind guy may put an SFO of Micarta Bullnose.

Sry for the cheap camera photos ,even my 90$ cellphone does better than this 80$ camera.

I was hoping to get a blackwood 2 blade to compare with my #85 EZ open single blade in natural stag. That jigged bone looks really nice too. I may have to pick one up.

Haha, Mike should give me a commission. Glad you like the photos. I just feel like this is the kind of knife that will be posted in an "Old Knives" thread in 2113, pretty hard to pass up!

My pair arrived yesterday, both are great, really like the EO feature and the coping blade is nice too, i'll try and get some pictures up later.

Bummer, I have almost done that myself but caught it before I actually got the order through, they look so similar in the pictures. That buffalo horn version looks pretty good too though.

Wow, service doesn't get any better than this!

Yesterday, I received my ivory bone #85. This morning I succumbed to the call of the antique yellow bone. Yes, nudged along a little by Steve's photos.

I got an order confirmation at 10:33. At 10:38 I got a shipping notice with USPS number.

Thanks for the great service, Mike.

Regards,
George
