Condor Golok, when's it going to be in stock again?

Anyone get their Goloks yet? I'm still getting the weekly e-mails from KnifeCenter saying that it's still out of stock.

Same boat here. Starting to get pretty amusing actually. Wouldn't be so if it wasn't such a low price item.

This is getting retarded! I see now my order is expected on 12/28...... but they don't know if it will really be in by then. Whats the deal? I am about ready to cancel my order and just buy some if they ever get in stock. I don't get all they hype and then you don't have any knives made? Were there major quality control issues that brought down the house of cards where they are retooling everything? Sorry just venting!

There were problems with getting the powder coat to bond properly on many of the carbon steel models. Thus they had to redo a crap ton of them and it would seem that pretty much everyone is expecting them by 12/28. If you'd rather cancel your order then I'd say do it. However I would wait and just let them send you one as soon as they come in--you'll be first in line!

Honestly, I can understand the frustration, but do you really need it so badly that you can't wait a month or so for one? I'm as big of a machete-head as anyone (if you haven't noticed! :D) but I'm more than content to just be patient and wait. It's just another excuse to pick up some other machetes to keep yourself busy until then! ;)

42 blades

The winter is my time to use my big knives and machetes.....I ordered months ago so I could have my new "toys" now...... I can wait a month, but hope it is only a month. When I ordered it was going to be a couple months, then another month, now more then a month. I could be spending that money on other goodies....as you wisely pointed out. :-)

I want that Golok so bad I can taste it.....do you know if the sheaths will be available by the 12/28 date? I may need to get a Fehrman Final Judgement if that Golok does not show soon! :-)

Agent Iron: Sorry if it seemed like I was singling you out--I was really remarking more at the general discontent that I've seen 'round the boards lately. The way I see it, it's still a machete. Machete=inexpensive and awesome, so why not pick up another model that's in stock in the meantime? :D For something similar to the Golok, check out the Puerto Rican model (I'm pretty sure it was Horn Dog who has one of those) or the Viking (which I have). My Viking is my go-to long blade. Here's a few pics!

I'm not sure about when sheaths will be available for the Golok...sorry! I wish I knew! As much as it may sound like it sometimes, I have no connection with company other than being being a mega-fanboy. :o

Thanks, now I want a Viking also... although I would rather have the Golok.

Still waiting here...

After the holiday season I hope to get my hands on some green canvas micarta to replace the scales. :D

+1 to these sentiments. The delays on the new Condors is a little frustrating. I've been looking for them almost every single day since the Blade show this summer. But you know what would suck WAY worse? If they sold a bunch of knives with quality-control issues and trashed their reputation. I'm sure they'll get their act together in time.

Meanwhile, there are still plenty of other Condors on the market. The stainless models ROCK by the way.:D

I completely, totally, and immensely appreciate and embrace your frustration. I'm looking into "ulterior" means to get these and other models in the hands of the good guys.

Which, needless to say, I'm very excited about! :D:thumbup:

I was lucky and got the Golok early on when a few of them were in stock.
I will tell you that this knife needs a lot of work to make it effective. The wood slabs were way too thick for me. So I sanded them down. The edge was very thick. Lots of sharpening required. First I used sandpaper to maintain the convex edge. It was better but I decided to really hog off some steel with my diamond hone. Now the Golok is shaping up to be a mean cutter.
I'm looking forward to getting the sheath for it. I also want the carbon Bolo and sheath.

The first batches of the new items were a little rough, as far as I've seen. For instance, my Rodan knife is a 1st gen and has some slightly sloppy grinds. The 2nd gen ones that I've seen pics of (thanks Joe!) had nice crisp grinds.

Yeah, that could be. Actually there were also gaps between the wood scales and tang near the top of the handle. I filled them in with roofing putty.

I'll just add that the thick blade with no primary grind - just a distal taper - like the Martindale Golok - means that you have a thicker edge closer to the handle. A belt sander can be your friend.

AF, that was one of the first ones (shudders). If you want a newer one, with basically all of that, fixed, let me know and I'll put you in touch.

The newer ones have: a distal taper and a spine to edge taper (yes they weigh less). Thinner rounder scales, and the gaps should be fixed.

When a company that uses so few machine-automated processes goes to make something new, they're bound to have a few hiccups at first. I can't wait to see the 2nd gen ones! I figure it'll be worth the wait.

Besides, it gives me an excuse to pick up another Rodan to go with my 1st gen. :p

Joe....I feed the hungry, cloth the poor, and have the cure for cancer.....can I be a good guy????:D
