Condor's 2011 catalog is up

Do some sluething and you may see some other names pop up that are similar to giant monster movies

Lets see...

Kumunga was a giant spider in a Godzirra movie

Boomsland is a poisonous snake in Africa with rear fangs

Varan was another big Japanese monster

How am I doing so far?

Tell me that the Falco was named after the guy who sang "Rock Me Amadeus"...... :D

I was excited by the Boar Dagger when I saw it on their website but now with that picture I am positively hyperventilating! Looks like a nice match for the Jungle Bowie.

I think I'm going to pick one of them up to use as a letter opener. Yeah...that sounds like a good excuse to tell the significant other... :D

I think Joe had mentioned that they were trickling out to dealers either now or very shortly. Most places that carry them are going to have old stock for a short while though, I'd figure.

Being HUGE fan of kaiju movies (giant monster movies), I noticed that quite awhile ago. Obviously I'm not alone, 'Joezilla'!

Not sure if you saw the SHOT Show vid or not, but they're working really hard on getting the grain on all the handles to be aligned properly, too. Good to know that that's part of their agenda for their new and redesigned axes.

Joe mentioned on the vids that they were going full tang on a few more blades, including the golok. Where does the tang end now and where will it end. [I don't recall anyone complaining about the current tang.]

It's about 3/4-length right now. :)

This may be a dumb question, but when they go full tang on the golok, will they stamp out the blanks with that handle shape?

Here's a current model:

The only way to make the tang significantly longer would be for the tang to curve into the ball. no?

Not 100% sure, but I presume so. Should help prevent chipping problems with the ball pommel if they do. Again, I defer to Joezilla on that one. I only do what I can to stand proxy with what I know when he's not available for comment. :p

The ball pommels get damaged at times?

If there's improper grain alignment and it gets struck the wrong way. Not common in the least, but I've seen it happen once before. :)

By grain alignment, i imagine the optimal angle would be the grain parallel to the blade, no? Kinda like how one presents a baseball bat?

Much like that, yes. The only time I ever saw one get damaged was one where the grain was perpendicular to the blade. It belonged to a fellow on here, and he just sanded the damage out. I've seen/handled plenty of the goloks in person, and I never saw one personally that had grain that bad. It was a lemon in that regard, but if it had been a full tang it would have been less likely to occur in spite of the flaw. :)

Does anyone else really want to see the blade of a Collins Engineer's Bolo on that Speed Bowie handle?:thumbup:

I'm picking up on what you're trying to describe. Not bad bad too! A "curve (blade) on curve (handle)" design so to speak.

Honestly though, it floats my boat just as it is. A design akin to a large bladed Filipino itak all-'round tool/weapon!

Any more photos Joe? :confused::D:thumbup:

I've tried downloading the catalog but my computer no likee!:mad::eek:
