Cooking

Wow - you folks sure know how to cook, and EAT!!

I have been watching my calories, and recording everything I eat, so I have not been cooking as much in the last few weeks.

Nice pizza Cooper, and Karen - you have a way of not only cooking but your presentations are delicious!

Man, all this food looks good. Cooper's pizza though, that is my kinda food.

I just finished digging up my red potato's and they are freaking monstrous lol. I'm talking like a pound per potato where the golds didn't do much this year with the drought! anyways if you have a farmers market or even a good store with some fresh red potato's check out this recipe. it's amazing. my wife is picking the cookie sheet clean right now

well I was hungry tonight and needed to make some dinner as the wife was working late.

I went with this old favorite and it was amazing as always

The Best Red Potatoes
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
1lb red potatoes
2 Tablespoons olive oil
5 cloves garlic, sliced thinly
3/4 teaspoon salt
Diced chives(optional)

and here is how to prepare them!

Wash the red potatoes thoroughly but keep the skin on.
Cut the potatoes into halves or quarters depending how big they are into bite-sized wedges.
Soak the wedges in hot water for 20-30 minutes
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Drain the potatoes from the water but don’t dry them. Toss with the olive oil, garlic, and salt until evenly covered.
Lay the potatoes out on a roasting tray and roast for 45 minutes or until the potatoes have started to brown and wrinkle.
Remove from the oven and serve hot. Garnish with chives if desired

I always cook these with scrambled eggs and cheese and a few splashes of Franks extra hot. Bacon if you got the time. it's amazing. here is my picture. I know I suck at photography lol.

Fresh from the garden but any old red potato's will do (biggest red potato's ever for me lol. great potato's) that shoe is a 10.5 inch shoe for size reference lol.

Thanks guys. Relatively inexpensive to make, and super filling. Leaves more money for knives.
Mack, it is really easy to make. My mom makes a delicious pizza, and as much as I try, they will never taste like hers.:D
They all end up a little different. This had melted butter and garlic salt on the crust.

I've never sauteed the mushrooms... will try that next time.

While the fancy presentations all look really nice, I lack the patience to create them, especially with food.
Sort of like how this was going to be a bacon and mushroom pizza, but the bacon didn't make it to the pizza pan.:D

friday night! burger mixed with freshly diced jalapenos. put the cheese and the bacon inside and then form shut. so easy, but so good.

Those look great but, you really shouldn't be depriving your girlfriend. Keeping a seasonings addiction to yourself is no way to keep her around. Share the addiction.:D

I predict that the DCG Salt and Pepper will be a popular gift in the Great Cornfield this year. ;^)

John got some Landlubber and Alsea Riviera to bring to the gathering in a couple of weeks. I hope you all get to try some.

Yum! I'll have the steaks!

Maggie made some of her midwest-sweet chili with corn - it is really good!

Perfect day for chili, cold and rainy. Connie picked up a turkey breast on sale , so we are having turkey, mashed potatos, green beans, and stuffing tonight, kind of a Thanksgiving preview. We have Hanna here now, so grandma and Hanna are baking cookies.

Sounds like a great day to me. Give Hanna a big hug for me please.

Cute picture.

Your kitchen has a neat layout - everything right there, and I like the horsehoe style counter -

My wife cooks very well, but she also makes a huge mess - using it seems every pan and utensil in the house when she does cook.

Oh well - it's worth it - she is making a lasagna for me tomorrow!

Karen does the same.
I can go weeks without needing to do dishes. She can only go two meals before they are all dirty.
She's a fantastic cook so I'm not complaining.

I'm not much of a baker. Most of my cooking is on the grill. I tried something new today. I made a couple of pumpkin pies. My house smells fantastic.
Desert tonight:
