Could you go one year with just one folding knife?

If I had to go one year without buying a knife, I'm sure I could do it. I am looking at this as if I could only carry one of the knives I own and it would have to do everything I needed. In that situation I would have to decide between my full sized griptillian, and my ZT 0561. I have many others but most are delica sized and under, so I would want something bigger. The grip is lighter and does pretty much everything I could need it to do, but may take the ZT instead because of how solid and well built it is. I have full confidence in it being able to take the full year of everything I could throw at it without issue. Right now i rotate my knives, but if someone said you can only grab one and that's your knife for the year, I'm pretty sure it would be the 0561.

Yes,Victorinox Huintsman. I am assuming though that I am allowed a fixed blade to compliment it.

I totally can.

I've been carrying my EDC every day now for just about 2 years now (bought it just after Christmas of '11).

I really only have a few folders though, so maybe thats why.

Actually, I have gone for a decade with just one folder — and it was a Vic Classic. Or to be honest, several manifestations of the Classic; each suffered some erosion and got replaced eventually. But they were all Classics.

I carried a Benchmade 3550 for 8 straight years before really getting into knife collecting. I still have the 3550, and still carry it when I ski or climb.

If I was forced to carry only one for an entire year, it'd be my Paramilitary 2 that I've carried for the last 4 months. Make it an M390 PM2, and the year would just fly by.

No. But then again, my grandfather farmed 200 acres with nothing more than a Case in his pocket.

In the mid-late '80s I became only marginally interested in knives, and carried a single Victorinox Spartan SAK as my sole knife until 1997. Then my interest in knives was renewed. But during that time, that one SAK served my purposes well. So although I carry multiple knives nowadays, if I had to, I could go back to one. And if I did, it would probably be a SAK again.

I went 2 years with a Buck 110, working on a ranch and with a Horse trainer, who would every morning check to see if it was sharp in case a show horse got tangled up and the lead had to be cut. Same knife, never even thought about it, it was just my knife, like my boots or like my wallet, which I made in school one year, a thick saddle leather wallet. stuff that I just always had. My Grandpa had a Buck 110 that was 25 years old, he just used stuff till it didnt work anymore, and never gave it a thought. Now its a hobby and I got a ton of techno wonders....now....id carry my ZT 0200, and it would run till it didnt.

Very similar, 3550 for about 9 years with my 722 overlapping several years and carried for over a decade as well.

*brofist*

My 3550 after being rebladed. They sent a new clip with the new blade, but the old one has too many stories engraved on it. Fun fact: this is the second time I've posted this picture in 3 minutes.

I gave away my original 3550 before basic training and bought a new one after tech school, not rebladed, but changed a few springs. :)

722 took the brunt of the abuse, like a champ. :D

:bro fist:

Why in the heck would I want to? Ridiculous! That's like having one pair of undershorts...

I've certainly done it before. For my first five years around these parts I almost exclusively carried a Sm Sebenza. If I was to own one folder it would certainly be a Sebenza. There's no folding knife I trust more. I'd go with the 25.

No, if recent history is any indication.

If I tried it would be with a BM 525 Predsidio, or maybe the ZT0566 I just got; but what about the BM 3550 I wear to work?

No, the answer is no.

Thats easy for me. A Case large stockman jigged bone and stainless so it wouldn't pit from EDC.
I'm such a whacko gearhead though. I carry a Gerber Suspention (multitool) , a trapper or a stockman (large only), SAK Classic on the keychain and sometimes a 110 or a RAT 1 as well.
