Could you go one year with just one folding knife?

I love all of my various knives but if forced to go to one folder I would be perfectly comfortable with the Para-Military II as my only folder. (close second would be an Endura)

I buy a new Benchmade every year. I carry it around with me for a year, and then I go back to the store to get another one. Have been doing this for 4 years. The only exception would be that when i went deer hunting I carry a bigger hunting knife with me, as well as my regular EDC Benchmade folder. Been carrying the current knife for a year and a half, I think it's time to visit the local knife shop :)

No problem. Would be one of these two:

Para in CTS-20CP with STR clip or Southard with STR clip. If large knives were more acceptable to the public I'd carry this:

Much better than any knife I used when I was young and that went fine ;)

One knife for a whole year implies it would have to endure what its pricier siblings would, accomplish what an otherwise more specialized and larger knife would be used for, and survive those rare times where a tool other than a knife would be used; I say my Zancudo would fit the bill...

I admire people who carry one knife for a long time, as (I think) it suggests mental stability. That also explains why I switch knives at least once a day.

Back in the olden days (1950 - 1985) there were few really good folders that were easy to carry, easy to open, and locked open. I carried a German "Cat Knife" for more than a year as my lone folder in the 60's. Later I carried a Gerber Bolt Action for at least year. Another long carried knife was the Buck 110. My favorite which was carried for years was an Al Mar Eagle.

Now, at age 66, I no longer have to carry the same folder for long periods of time so I don't.

Before I got into collecting I carried an Buck Alpha Dorado as my sole folder for about 5 years...

Nowadays I EDC small fixed blades 99% of the time, so I guess I could even do a year without ANY folding knife ;)

One year of my normal urban-centric life would be easy with my Para 2.

Now if we're talking about one year of a SHTF scenario and I had to make due with only one knife then I would want my ESEE-4.

I did that a few years ago when the Para 2 came out. I carried it almost every day for over a year. Only carried another knife a handful of times.

If I was super busy in my life, yes I could go forever with one folder, but I'm not very busy right now. :p

I've been EDC'ing my BM Barrage since 2009 as my only folder until I added an SAK last year. So yeah, I've been fine with a single folder for over a year. The new year might be a different story though. Since I recently developed a taste for collecting fixed blades I found this forum and decided I need to expand my folding horizons as well. A year goes by pretty quickly these days, and I could easily go another with just the Barrage. My bank account would probably be a lot healthier by this time next year if I did!

Um....no. Not that I couldn't ,but more like I'd get ansy and want something different after a while :P

Yes. But as others have said trying to choose a single precious would cause ones self to become mentally ill.

For me I would carry my Benchmade 9555 Auto Rift. I am currently waiting on a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 that may become my new favorite.

Contego if I could only have one. This knife can handle anything, and I feel its not overly large.
Frank.
