CPK EDC2

Question...

Out of the two sheath styles available, which one looks like it could be modded to be used as a left handed vertical carry?
I have eyelets so adding a few holes to level a clip out is no issue.

If I end up loving the knife, I’ll purchase an aftermarket piece from one of our go-to guys.

Spent the day demo-ing out a low voltage system on a lockdown ward. To get to the area in the attic I was working, I had to traverse my way through 150 - 200 feet of tangled attic space. My dikes (diagonal cutters) had fallen out of my pocket somewhere along the way.
I did not want to go back to look for them. Instead, I pulled out my EDC2 and started cutting wires. The wires themselves were nothing, but this was shielded cable. It has a braided steel sheath protecting the wires. I wouldn’t have tortured most knives with a task like this.
I wasn’t counting but 50-100 cuts. I completed the task and found my dikes on the way out.
EDC2 didn’t quit cutting but it was more difficult the longer I went.
Once I was down,in good light, I inspected the edge. No chipping. But I rolled pretty much the entire edge. Feels like a sharpening burr down the length of the edge. It won’t take much work to get it back to sharp.
I’ve used my BK-24 on the same type of cable in the past. The D2 dulled sooner and wasn’t able to make nearly as many cuts (went and got the proper tool that time).
I honestly wasn’t expecting to complete the demo with my EDC2, just figured I’d do what I could before having to go find my dikes.

I keep a couple sharpening implements with me on the road.
Overall, I’m impressed and happy with the performance.
Overall, the knife is fine!

I’d also like to add - the handle is super comfy!!!!!

You don’t just wear them backwards on your left side!?!?!?
That’s what I typically do.
Except at work - then I carry a fixed blade in the left thigh pocket of my carhartts.
I was going to get a Joufuu left handed ISP scout sheath (probably still will) but “modified” my stock sheath for the time being.

It’s not pretty but it works perfectly.
I cut it where I did so that the bottom part of the sheaths’ belt loop catches the seam at the top of the pocket and ensures the sheath remains in the pocket.
This doesn’t help you in any way!
Sorry.

As you already know, GrogMeister is also a lefty but I don't think that he uses the standard (no pun) index KYDEX (da*n autocorrect!) heaths he gets. He normally drags his arse in here in the wee hours of the morning, so let's see what wisdom he has to convey regarding the sheath alteration and adaptation for a lefty.

Sorry.

That mod looks like it could work well but I’m used to carrying a fixed blade on my belt because my phone is in my left pocket.
It’s hard to change old habits!

I’d love to be able to carry a nice leather sheath all day but it would get beat to death and it would be full of saw dust or other abrasive dust.
I have to wash out my sheaths almost weekly because the get crusty.

S78 really needs one and I bet that he'll use the crap out of it. In fact, Nathan had guys like S78 (tradesman) in mind for this pattern not a namby-pamby like yours truly :)

I had to post since I couldn't 'like' this ^ twice! This is exactly the type of guy the EDC is built for

No problem and I'll do my best for you Bud... You, Grog, Dave, Justin and I go way back to our days over there-there. The original posse if you will :D

Right on brotherman. I still wouldn't have at least one particular blade if it hadn't been for Bryan. One of the good guys, along with the yourself and the rest you mentioned. Except that Dave guy. Keep at least one eye on him

Mat, I think I'm getting sent out of town Friday. If you happen to miss (you won't) there might be another option. Good luck you two!

Yes, Brian also but he doesn't drop in as frequently since he must be wrestling some bovine somewhere under the Nature's blue skies :D

Roger that on the EDC too ;)

Thanks HK!
I’ll be sure to give the EDC a nice workout.
That Dave guy is definitely a troublemaker!

Anyone know if it fits the bark river necker sheath with the magnet? Is there a reason to not want the knife magnetized?

Any idea where deliveries are at from the pre-order? Can't wait to get my knife after seeing all the sweet pics.

Best to check the preorder thread. It looks like it is currently right atop the 3rd page with WilsonHome being the next one up. Jo did mention that the plan is to ship about 20 more EDC2s in the upcoming week to go toward the preorders in addition to the next and the last (for a while) 20 coming up for sale on this Friday the 9th.
