How about a fat badger attack with a slightly enlarged choil, skull crusher pommel, and a nice big jimped thumb ramp. Its gotta have the comfy, round handle that fits in your palm perfectly. I think it'll make the perfect bushcraft/survival knife. Thanks!

Looking for something like this?

:eek:

I have never seen this before. That is a good attempt, but I feel like I would like to see something more closely matching my description. I need to see something that looks like it can really be used. It is the details of this that I am concerned about.

Busse Folder.

On a serious note though. What Id love to see is HOG Daily Carry like in the lardoganzaa except this time with her anorexic sister. Say 3/16 of an inch. Same handle material would be great too. I would love to see a real slicer edc. I would buy her in a second.

I hope this helps :D

My suggestion is a dedicated Bug Out Bag Knife specifically made for an urban environment.

You could call it the BOB which stands for Bug Out Busse of course.

Or you could call it. SOB which stands for Save Our Bacon. :D

Would have to be stout, at least .25 thick. Shortish to fit in a minimalist Bug Out Bag. Blade no longer than 5" I would think. Overall about 10". You might need to cut through a fire door on your way out of a building. Or pry a door open to find shelter.

I'm thinking of a handle similar to the ergo handle in case you need to stick it in a brick fence and use it as a step to get over.

Basically a modified NO-e Maybe you could do a cutout in the handle to make a gas shut off wrench.

Maybe cord wrapped so you could have some rope with you in a pinch. Maybe some kind of hybrid cord wrap/micarta.

Like micarta in the front and in the back with the center of the handle cord wrapped. Remove the cord wrap to expose the gas wrench maybe?

Add a wire breaker in the butt? Lots of fences in the city between you and yours when you have to walk home because the zombies cut the power...:D

The sheath (I know...I know. I can't help it I'm on a roll) Should be a super low profile kydex because it will spend most of it's life riding in a bag not on a belt. Just a muzzle really. It wold still need some way to ride on the belt though...in case of zombies you know.

That's all from Heavy's fantasy land...

Thanks and good luck to all!

:cool:

Okay . . . I had a chance to catch my breath and put some thought into this.

Why not a package deal from all companies?

Take the best of all lines, and put them in a package!

I would LOVE to see Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard go once more into the world of hunting blades!

From Busse:

The Pork Chop.
An INFI cleaver, designed primarily for big-game cleaning/quartering.
INFI is a great chopping steel, but rumor has it, it isn't ideal for smaller/thinner blades (if I'm wrong, PLEASE do whatever the heck you want).

Make it as light as possible, but stout enough to go toe to toe with a Moose . . . and win!
The Pork Chop should be able to cut through bone, and still have enough uumph leftover to take branches off nearby trees for a make-shift drag-stretcher to get your stuff out of there.

This might be the perfect outlet for Busse's red-headed step-child, the SAR5. Make the blade deeper and shorter, and it would be a great cleaver . . . but please put more texture in the handle so that I don't lose it when taking full swings at bones!

From Swamp Rat:

The Drop RAT (or DRT)
A tactical handle on a 5" blade (4.5" cutting surface) with a drop point.
Think a Rat Hunter with a deeper blade. 1/8" wide, 2" deep.

From Scrap Yard:

The Bone Dog
Put a Res-C handle on a boning or caping blade and complete the package.

Or, you could offer the Drop Rat with a Res-C handle, for a more affordable option and call it the Drop Dog.

OK teams - Ill toss this one out...

The Busse Classic Line

Bring back some Ergos, Straight handles, and classic looking blades like the original SJ!!

Man I am going to start asking for a comission on all these excellent ideas~~:D:D:D:D

.

a kitchen/field set (gasp):

* Boney NICK
* SHSJ-sized Culti
* INFI Filet Knife

Satin, Rope-Cut Green Linen or Black Paper please.

(one can dream, right?)

Once again Thank you for all of your great ideas....Beef is on his way over to my house and we are gonna put our Teams design together...and get it ready to hand over to Jerry....The biggest problem is deciding on "which design" :confused::confused:

My head hurts...LOL

a puzzle-handled NM-treament and NMFBM-length Bushwacker Mistress would be super duper awesome, like a bacon sandwhich with extra bacon and baconaise...

I think some Beverages are in order -:D

Cross post from the SwampRat forum.... Just so the info is in both threads.

I'll lay it out with one idea for each brand, but it is interchangable between brands as you decide what is best.

Busse;

SAR3 - 3" version of the SAR4 but with a belt cutter and window breaker intergrated into the skullcrusher. Also a serated section on the back of the blade for HD sawing and allowing a full 3" blade. A 3" EDC Survival/Rescue would sell great. Other brands have done well in this market....

SwampRat;

Tanto - A Tanto would go well with the success of the Waki. Just a shorter version of the Waki with a single hand grip. Making options available on this blade would increase sales... for example the traditional person may want a plain Tanto... where a Military person may want a skull crusher... a EMT/Police may want a Tanto for the HD metal penetrator tip with a serrated back side on the blade with integrated belt cutter/window breaker Skull Crusher... This would make the Tanto appeal to all types of customers.

ScrapYard;

Rescue/Police Tool - A dedicated blunt point rescue/police tool with intergrated belt cutter, serrated back of blade for HD sawing, special cutouts in handle for possible gas cut-off or popular bolt sizes. Big growing market for EMT, Police and CERT teams around the country.....

*** More details for these designs are available upon request.

A Fixed blade version of the RAT TRAP! The same silhouette and slab handles, maybe offered in two thicknesses, thick one for entry, thin one for slicing.

Many good ideas already!! Here's a few of mine:
- NM'ed Tank Buster (6.5", no scalloped spine or choil) with FSH or ASH handle, thinned to 0.200" thickness, penetrator tip
- scaled down version of NMFBM: 5.5"-6.5" blade, 3/16" thick, no choil, penetrator tip, handle off course also appropriately downsized

For something a bit more challenging: how about a revival of a WWII US Army icon? I'm talking about a Bussefied version of the Cattaraugus 225 Quartermaster: 0.188" thick, 6" long, 1.3" wide, sabre ground and swedged INFI blade. It'll feature the talon hole and perhaps thumb groves instead of the guard and for a handle rounded micarta, or better yet: G-10 instead of the stacked leather(and, off course, no choil!! Well, not for a very, very small one). Give it the NM treatment and a penetrator tip while you're at it!!:D :foot:
The challenge is in the pommel: one you can hammer with instead of on. I've never seen a Busse with something like this. But it will make for a slender looking sticker/cutter/do-all-camp-chores hard user.

Go to it already!

Thanks,

D-R

(P.S.: I have no idea how this would run, intellectual property wise or cost wise, for that matter...)

Again, I would like to see a Nessmuk. I would like it to be like I described, which is much more literal to the tradition than the proto someone put up.

It is such a great design if done the way I see it. It is such a versatile knife that can be used for much more than just chopping. I am not the last time I cut through 4X4's with my knife.

Please design something that can do fine cutting, skinning, detail work, as well as all the things Busse is known for like chopping, prying, spear throwing!

I love the history of Busse and the lineage of knives that have been created. I would be delighted to see the line-up of knives continue to grow in its range of applications.

I like the prybar idea, maybe a short one with a blade on the other end.

I live on a boat when I'm not over here in Iraq though, so the cutlass version of the same sword (1841 model) would be a sweet thing to bring back to life as well.

Failing that, a good SOLID bayonet for the M-4 would totally kick butt. It could be regular length but fat for its size. Something that would make folks think you were carrying a small halberd and not a spear/like object.
