My favorite would been a knife designed on the lines of a professional skinner. 5 or 6 inch blade and a usable choil.
Ian.

How about a Combat Grade FBM with CBT's the same sizes as the nmfbm:cool:

Much of the time I end up taking a second tool that has a small saw blade - either a pocket saw or a multitool with a saw. What I would like is a well made survival knife with a 7-7.5 inch INFI blade, .22 thick, spear or clip point, no/minimal choil, large guard, convex ground main edge for chopping, and REALLY GOOD, USABLE sawteeth on top.

I'm thinking a Bill Sanders S-3 take-off of the Randall 18. Could have a hollow waterproof handle if you want to get really nutty. But might be better with a Busse handlle using canvas micarta scales that unscrew to house minimal gear inside the skelatonized tang - like a small ferro stick, water tabs, fishing hooks, etc. Would be a fun one.

I've used the Randall 18 and 14 but the saw teeth suck. The Sanders is supposed to be great, but are hard to come by and a bit pricey.

NMFNO!!

Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Natural Outlaw!!

Imagine, a narrow FSH... more like a SHe with Fusion handles...

A ~4.5" Game Warden blade with proportionately longer slabs.

A +5" ASH-shaped blade (2" wide) with Tac handles. I'm thinking a wide blade on a narrow handle like a Santoku but with a more practical shape (and with a piercing tip)

Options for with/without swedge, choil, and skull crusher like the Tank Buster on all the above. :) Keep that Satin option available for future CG models, PLEASE!!!!

I want a 14 inch subhilt Silent knight type knife with maybe a lil more curve at the top and bottom of the blade..... mmmmmm soo sexy.

And i want an internal affair! Either knife is so damn good looking.

OK, I'll play. My favorite Busse knife is the BATAC (excluding the RMD...best knife ever). Perfect size for hiking or camping and the wide blade makes it good for food prep. The only problem with that knife IMO is that the handle seems better suited to a larger knife. I have big hands and there is still too much unoccupied micarta when I'm holding it.

I'd like to see a choilless BATAC that keeps its fat belly, but that has a handle with a contoured grip with a well defined guard at the first finger(maybe integrated with a talon hole there). The SHBA was pretty good and I see plenty of people asking for it again, but I personally prefer the SAR-inspired design Bill Siegle made after the SAR5 came out.

As far as making a monster chopper, I think Jerry already perfected that design in the FBM, so I hope at least one of your teams will try to focus on something that some of us could use when we are not hacking our way through an Amazon rainforest, or single-handedly building a log cabin.

Great contest by the way.

A 7" bladed Ratchette, ( Pauls hatchette) Mudder handle, slight rocker, like the original. It would be great for Batoning or used as a froe.Doesn't have to have the Mudder, but Res C would be nice to absorb shock.

CG ASH-1 with the following modifications:
- minimum .320" thick
- 7.5" blade
- clip point
- unsharpened swedge, or at least armor-piercing tip
- flat hammer-pommel
- rounded polished spine
- convex edge
- BUT 1st 3" of blade, from choil towards tip, ground thinner for fine cutting tasks

GOT IT-the "Potbellied SarSquatch":D .25", Clip point, GG with a black/grey urban camo finish:thumbup:

The handle of the EU-series
Old style SJ blade.. max 6 inch .. max 0.20 " thick

and here it comes..
make the blade a bit broader behind the belly (a couple of mm's), and smaller just before the ricasso (like Fällknivens A-1) to shift weight forward for light chopping dutys

..

Options:
choil - no choil
cg - satin
micarta - G-10 - G11
colour of coating and handle

I'd be all over this

oh man, the old school ratchete would be amazing, I still hold that it was a photoshopped pic even though some say it was real. looked like the larger basic rat style reciprene c with a ~16" blade, similar to the ak47's but it looked to be slightly hollow ground and with a more rounded front tip. pretty much any one handed machete that isn't ultra heavy would be good.

A modified Bowie, 8" long blade, maybe more, with a VERY pronounced curved swedge. What is special about this blade is, it's WIDE. As in 6-7cm (=2.5-3"). Blade must be thick too, at least 8mm (=.32") and be saber ground like the FFFBM. Straight handle, double guard with optional catches (don't know what they're called in English) for classic knife fighting. Perfect mirror polished finish...
*drools*

Holy Terror with a swedge? It's an Ulu blade. Use mine to cut pizza, fillets, and bad guys. I do clean it between times
3rd design:

Remake/remodel the Holy Terror. Have options for either serrations, plain, sharpened/swedged (like the old ones), different colors, maybe curved form vs angular etc.

The choices could be endless and with so many of us having multiple blades these days then everyone would need at least a few.

How about a Meaner Street with sharp swedge on a harpoon tip. Make it .170-.190 thin. Keep the butt or maybe even a little more aggressive. Use G-Rex style slabs with rope cut pattern. Love that rope pattern.

It's difficult to come up with an original idea, there are so many good ones here!

My 2ȼ - I would like to see the following:

1) SHSJ - re-release, satin, black paper micarta, NO CHOIL, and shorter ricasso, anorexic

2) ULU - a dedicated Ulu, based on the Holy Tearer design, plain edge, satin, but one piece of INFI (as opposed to two pieces bolted together), this would not be designed to be bolted to SH

3) GAME WARDEN "PLUS" - Game Warden with 4-5" blade, anorexic

4) RATMANDU - satin INFI edition, without choil
