CRKT/Knifecenter Hootenanny: Not actually S30V

That's probably not S30V and perhaps KC should stop selling these for now.

Being made in china it is quite possible the steel is not s30v
My cousin is a mechanical engineer working for a major car company doing buisness in china. He says that many chinese subcontractors presented samples that respected specs but when production started they switched steels and HT protocols to save money.
I don't trust made in china

I am not going to comment on the validity of your statements regarding some of the business practices you mentioned (they are true) but CRKT who makes a ton of it's knives in China has not had this issue on other knives (that I know of)

I am going to guess that something went wrong on a batch of S30V, or unlikely, there was a mix up of steel...

I thought everybody knew that when buying Chinese you never know what you'll get !!

We really need to stop picking on the Chinese. Seriously.

CRKT went to China to contract out their knife manufacturing and they where not forced to do it....

You want to point a finger, it starts and ends with greedy American companies.

My Chinese friend speaking about Chinese Manufacturing/industry said simply:
You get what you pay for. If you ask for Product A but want to pay Product B prices. The Chinese will happily sell you Product A but replace it with Product B.

A lot of times some companies go to China thinking it's going to be a lot less expensive, only to realize materials/craftsmanship take a hit after prototyping. You can bet your bottom dollar the Chinese factory already was planning on does this from the get go.

Or maybe they were made in canada...

I have 2 reates that are nicer than many more expensive knives from other countries.

I am tired.of the bashing, I made a good living for many years working with chinese people, I have nothing had to say anout them.

Russ

I wish.
We could use the jobs. ;)
We'll gladly make cheap crap and sell it to the rest of the world.

And it's Canada, not canada...

Im typing on a phone, but I clearly understand the inferiority complex, I have relatives from victoria island to st john nb.
You make a great hat up there though...

No inferiority here; I am the greatest person in the greatest country in the greatest part of the solar system, in what is likely the greatest part of the whole damned galaxy.

But do keep projecting your feelings on others. ;)

I take it you have nothing usefull to add

This wasn't the first time I have seen you engage in needless China bashing.
Savor my reply old sport, the chances of it not being S30V are about the same as you having hollow points in that Revolver Rodger...

Unfortunately it is not bashing when it is based on facts my friend. In that case it is called a legitimate observation.
What country in the world is the capital of counterfeit manufacturing? Canada ?
Maybe you need to get your head out if the sand

Let's stop China bashing and get back to knives please.

Can't speak for his revolver, but my .38 often has hollowpoints for it. :)
They are legal in Canada, even for revolvers.
There was some nonsense for a while about individuals not being able to import them, but that seemed to go away too.

Try to keep up! :D

This is a shame... I really like this design, and was going to get one...very hesitant now.

Thank you to both our OP for posting this and to Knifecenter for addressing it in the forum. I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing what happens with this, and what discussion stems from it.
