CT school shooting

The kids that survived are going to have serious issues. Some may never be able to go back to school again. I feel so bad for the families that lost their children.... There needs to be a cruel and unusual punishment for this kind of evil...

I'm in Derby CT, about 15 miles away.... and most of the on-line reports seem to be misleading. In the CT State police update they only said 1 shooter. Reports coming out now it was a .223 rifle.
But every minute there are conflicting reports...it will be a while before they release accurate informtion later today

And that one shooter is dead already right?
 
This just keeps happening, and it is sad.

It seems this world just breeds more and more of these insane people.
 
Thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. Horrible, cowardly attack.

CT already has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, and schools are gun free zones so criminal nut cases know they will have no resistance. Schools should have well armed, well trained professional security guards to thwart these mass murders.

Thats what is reported...still a lot of info not being released...or is coming in with conflicting reports.

Now they say the shooters mother was a teacher at the school, but do not know her status
 
My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

This is a scary thing, my wife is a teacher and I have a young daughter. It would be the worst nightmare imaginable to get the news that some pathetic excuse for a human walked into a school and took them away. This makes me absolutely sick...

I agree. Teachers don't go into teaching expecting to have to be armed and get into shoot outs. Every school needs to have 2 trained and armed security guards patrolling at all times.
 
First off it is way to early to know details lets not forget most of the details known about both the movie theater shooting and the mall shooting (such as he was wearing body armor) turned out to be wrong. That said us legal gun owners are about to have to weather a lot of bad stuff even though no gun law would have or could have prevented this. The only thing that might help is to stop making gun free victim zones.

I just can't understand nor comprehent, I have a 5 and 3 years old. What kind of evil sick animal will it take to shoot a whole room of kindergareners, they are so innocent at that age. I don't think I can go on without either of my kids, so so disturbing and sad.

They are reporting the shooters mother was killed at the school
 
What are the school security officers doing when these lunatics are just walking into the building with weapons? You'd think that by now school administrators would have smartened up, and began verifying adults identification upon entering the building. These students are dead because adequate security measures were not in place. This tragedy could have been avoided.
 
dad gum there was just a shooting 5 minutes away from me 3 thugs went into a house and killed everyone in there wth is going on...

Maybe not, the shooter's mother was a teacher at the school so the staff probably knew him. He walked into his Mother's kindergarten class and shot her and most of the children in the class. 2 handguns, easy to conceal. No one would have stopped him from walking into her classroom... Short of a metal-detector and a pat down the killer would not have been stopped.
 
This type of violence seems to be a growing sickness. I can't put into words how sad I am for the people affected by this horrible horrible thing. Where can we go from here? So so Sad

this is a major weakness...as was mentioned before that Alabama has officers at their schools. I only know of one school here with metal detectors but it was due to gun in school few years ago. I was happy to see officers here in every SC school when I enrolled the kids. Plus one day a week the fire dpt shows up and unloads kids from kiss and ride. Today there were three or 4 county police officers doing the same thing this very morning. Not sure if it was due to this or not. Probably not cause it was real early

Unfortunatley as you pointed out it is unlikely that any of this except for metal deterctors would have stopped this horrible event.:(:(
