The world seems to be getting angrier.
I just can't wrap my head around 2 guys planning on going in and killing kids, that is horrible how could anyone kill children...
This just keeps happening, and it is sad.

It seems this world just breeds more and more of these insane people.
dad gum there was just a shooting 5 minutes away from me 3 thugs went into a house and killed everyone in there wth is going on...
This type of violence seems to be a growing sickness. I can't put into words how sad I am for the people affected by this horrible horrible thing. Where can we go from here? So so Sad

Humans have always been a complicated species, and the sociopathic mind existed long before a definition for "society" even did. I feel sorry for anyone that has to ever go through anything like this, especially parents of such young kids, but this is neither a modern nor a growing problem.

It's a real shame this happened, but all we can do now is pray for the families involved and learn from it to try and prevent it from happening again.

I agree arm the teachers, one shooter is dead and the other is described as a 24 year old male with a bullet proof vest and 4 weapons, I hope they find him, alive that is, these families are gonna need some sort of closure and maybe seeing that sorry SOB would help a little , even though nothing is going to bring their children back, I know around here we have cops in the schools , does anyone know if that is nationwide or just in certain states?
The school in my town always had 2 or 3 officers at all times, I'm not sure about other schoold in my area or state, I live in Ohio.

These cowards all kill themselves. We now will see that we need security in all schools, and not just a Mall cop that sits and drinks coffee. All schools in the future will be built with a fence around them, and guards at the gate. that is the world we live in today. I would gladly pay more in my taxes for security to know my kids are at least safe in school. I can't imagine facing a tragedy like this. God Bless all of you that have lost a loving child in this tragedy. You are in our hearts and prayers.

I originally posted this when I commented on the jungle training site. Just wanted to share it here as well:

Mental health is a silent killer in this country. The stigma associated with "getting help" for troubled loved ones must be removed from our minds. This and every tragic massacre like this are cultural failures. We all want to protect and care for our loved ones, but violence is never the answer. I meet many "survivalist/preppers" that are waiting for the downfall of society. We should all be prepared for the worst, but don't hasten the day. Don't raise your children to think that evil doesn't exist, but let them know that the good guys exist as well. The idea that we are all protected by arming ourselves is a fallacy, we are protected when we recognize the dignity of every person and genuinely care for their well being through intervention. Recognize and seek help for any mentally ill persons in your life. My brother was a depressed drug user, I fought tooth and nail to get him help after he threatened our family. Unfortunately we are "our brother's keeper". Time for more social heroes and less social bystanders. If you know someone who needs help mentally, have an intervention. Full disclosure--I am an avid gun rights proponent. We need to start policing ourselves. Lock your firearms and be a responsible gun owner. Violence starts in the home!!! Broken homes breed broken people. I assumed a lot with this rant, but I apologize ahead of time for being so passionate about my love of life and people in this long winded write up.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, and their families.

BTW- this is not the day to be talking about gun politics.

I served the public as an inner city highschool teacher and sometimes it was worse than being a correction officer. God bless the children and their families.

My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones, i have 3 children in elementary school and a wife who teaches, I could not imagined the horror these people had to endure.

Doesn't matter if he was mentally ill or not. We all have problems in our lives and can find an "excuse" to do something heinous, but we don't. We pull ourselves together and go on with our lives not harming anybody. Something like this is inexcusable and utterly disgusting. In the event something like this repeats itself and they happen capture the guy alive, injections should not be enough, he should be tortured. The parents should each have a turn with him in a locked room, and I know that won't bring their kids back ..but someone that does something like this needs to feel a fraction of the pain they have caused to others.

This is sickening.

My prayers go out to the families and lost souls of this tragic incident.

Well, it kind of does. Mental illness is a completely different story. It's not about self control if you have a mental or personality disorder. People with those disorders just don't see things the way normal people do--a punishment like torture might mean nothing to them. If mass murder doesn't faze them, torture wouldn't be far behind, even inflicted on the killer himself. If the killer did have a disorder, it's an unfortunate meeting of two completely different worlds that can never understand each other.

My heart breaks for all those parents and lives taken far too soon for dreams to be realized.

All too often we are reminded that true evil exists in our world.

If God cannot conquer evil, congress has no chance.

Considering how many laws this coward violated in this heinous crime, we must be reminded of this fact. New laws are not the answer.

.

Unfortunately as you pointed out it is unlikely that any of this except for metal detectors would have stopped this horrible event.
The only thing that could have stopped this is another person with a firearm and the will and knowledge to use it. Gun Free zones do not work all they do is make defenseless victims.

Therein lies the problem. We have created gun free zones, (Schools, medical facilities, etc.) thereby creating killing fields. A whacko intent on killing a bunch of people knows
that he will be unopposed until the cops show up. Just because a person is crazy does not mean that they are stupid.

As more information comes out we know that the shooter had mental problems. I think that's a given. It takes an insane person to commit an insane act like this. It has been said that his
mother bought the weapons. I checked CT gun laws and AR-15s are illegal. Not even a LEO can own one as a personal weapon. It will be interesting to see how that develops.

I shed a tear when I heard this on the radio this morning on my way to work. My heart aches every time I think about it.... I can't possibly imagine what the family members of those children must be going through.

Well, he got up in the morning and his first violent action was to shoot his Mother in the face. He murdered her while she was in bed. She was a teacher at that school. So he takes those guns...a Glock, a SIG, and an assault rifle and heads to the school. He is alone but, for some reason he has his Brothers ID on him.
Because his (now dead) Mother was a teacher at the school he was able to gain ingress even though the school was technically locked down as standard daily operating procedure. After a certain set time in the morning the doors are locked at that school. Then he proceeds to attempt to murder all of the children in his Mothers classroom.
He also murdered the school principal and some other adults before he killed himself. His parents were separated & he is reportedly at least slightly mentally challenged. His Brother and Father (I believe) have been (so far) cleared of having any knowledge that this tragedy was to transpire. That is all I know so far.
Truly a horrific act of killing innocents by a really sick, warped, individual.

Bring on individual mental health awareness testing, start testing people from kindergarten on through college.

I avoid the news with a passion in any case, but I've been in the hospital having surgery lately, so I'm really out of touch. I saw this thread when I came home, but I've been avoiding learning about what happened...

All I can say is I hope there is divine payback for people like this... At the very least, I hope I can get to their part of Hell from my part; let them pick on someone their own size... Like I've said before, bury me with my Battle Mistress.
