Why? Because it was her right to. Thats all you need to know.

well, whatever the reason it certainly backfired.

if you're going to have that kind of weaponry, it shouldn't be accessible to anyone but you...

btw, im a gun enthusiast so dont get the wrong idea.

questioning the situation is just natural for someone like me...

Thoughts and prayers go to the families of the victims and to the first responders who must carry the memory of this senseless crime for the rest of their lives.

On a different note, 22 schoolchildren were attacked on Friday by a knife wielding maniac in China. No fatalities but many children needed medical care. The United States does not have a monopoly on deranged individuals.

perhaps, i just didn't think it was common for female elementary school teachers that pack that kind of arsenal.
How many knifes do you own? How many do you think the average member on here owns? Do you find that unusual? Do you consider it an arsenal? The number of weapons she had is not uncommon for someone who enjoys shooting. Most gun owners I know have at least three and some have more than 20. When you are an enthusiast about something you tend to collect multiples of them whether it be knifes, guitars, or guns(which I have multiples of each myself) or anything else.

She wasn't a school teacher. She was a stay at home mom.

Yeah the media sure has had a hayday with all the inconsistencies ehh? Oh well, as long as they get a story out there, who cares about facts, its not as if this is a big deal or anything

Aint that the truth.

How'd you come up with the whole video game thing? Was that in some of the reports?

So you would not allow your grown son access to your firearms? (I am assuming his mother didn't know he was bug nuts insane)You would leave your children with no means to defend themselves?

i'm simply sharing my opinion.

usually theres some kind of sign (depression, anger etc)..

so yeah. his mother shouldnt have left her firearms laying around the house for just anyone to use..

regardless, there's usually no stopping attacks like this so im not blaming his mom...

i'm just disgusted by the situation like anyone else.

you dont know that she was a gun enthusiast, you're guessing that.

i'm saying perhaps it was more than that....

Are you and your sibs not your parents children?

dericdesmond,

i'm not looking for a debate.

the situation is extremely sad and at this point im just questioning certain areas.

obviously no one can predict when these horrific things will occur.

i was just curious as to whether she was an actual gun enthusiast or if there were other reasons behind it..

i'm certainly not saying that there has to be ill intent for someone to own a few guns..

just wondering.

relax :)

Relax? It was a simple question to a statement that made absolutely no sense to me. But ok, not interested in an unequal playing field anyway, I got a girlfriend so I get enough of that.

fair enough.

my point is that no mother should feel like she has to protect her 20 year old son.

he should've been protecting her, instead he shot and killed her (with her own gun no less).

four_shore, I still don't really get this post of yours:

this story [ticks] me off to no end.

some mental case that most likely sat home and played COD 24/7 steals his moms guns, kills her and a bunch of little innocent kids..

life isn't a video game (there's [n*****] respawn) but apparently this scumbag thought otherwise.

and was hoping you'd answer. We like our knives here on this forum, and some members call people who are aren't into knives things like "sheeple" all the time as if knives are the thing to know about to get by in life. We protect our knife rights, and guns get a pass here, too. But video games? Not the same deal? It's kind of hypocritical and self-centered.

I'm not accusing you of anything since I don't know what context you brought that up in, but it's at least obviously disparaging toward games and/or gamers. Lots of people play video games--only a killer would take inspiration from them to actually kill people. Looks like the same political fight to me.

yes.

this was in the report.

He had two bedrooms that were clean and orderly when law officers swept into the house after the shootings Friday morning. Lanza apparently lived in one of the rooms and kept his computer gear and other items in the other one, the sources said. Law officers found evidence that Adam Lanza played graphically violent video games, the sources said.

This is just too sad.

The problem is a lack of mental health assessment and treatment in this country.

i'm not against video games but lets be honest here, it certainly feels modern day game influenced.

if a manic depressed person buries his head in a run and gun shooter video game then subsequently gets geared up in tactical attire and brutally shoots up a school...

well, let's just say it sounds like the game could have had a negative effect on him.

that's not to say it's the games fault, or the guns fault.

he obviously had deep seated mental issues.
