I hope your damascus peanut serves you as well as mine did. This was the very first damascus blade I ever had, and is still the only one I own. It took me a while to get used to the damascus, it's weird stuff, and not like CV or any of the other steels I was used to. Sometimes it felt dull, but when I went to cut, it sliced right through what I was cutting. It felt weird on the stone, but sharpened up well. It's not weird in a bad way, just different from anything I had before. I'm still wondering if it was made by Devon Thomas or his brother.

Carl, Grand high Muckba and user of Case damascus peanut.
:D

Thanks Carl! I agree about the Damascus feeling different. I had to sharpen a bur from the blade and it feels a little more "gritty" than other steels I guess.

Here she is:

^^ Wow! That looks great!

After calling on a 108OT and Buck 309 to pull stand-in duty for the real thing, I finally succumbed to the lure of The Cult and have a chestnut CV on its way.
Resistance is futile, it seems.

Can I join with this peanut? :-)

Gorgeous little sweetheart!:thumbup::thumbup:

It's the exact twin of mine. The amber bone ages very well. Looking atyours, I now realize that my blades have darkened a bit from a patina, with the pattern more subdued. I hope it serves you well. The damascus seems to excell on fibrous stuff like rope/twine, and cloth. Does pretty well on meat too, so watch your fingers with that sucker!!! They can bite if you get careless with them. Peanuts like and demand attention when being handled. :D

You're gonna love the chestnut bone. It's one of Case's best scale colors. And the CV is classic. Welcome to the cult. And yes, resistance is futile!:D

But never doubt the Buck 309, it's a great 'peanut class' of knife.

Thank you! It's a pleasure to finally be a member (or at least I will be by the end of the week :) ).
The new peanut will have to go mano a mano with the chestnut SBJ, but I doubt the bigger one will win. The 309 is one of my favorites, such that when I recently sent in a few knives to Idaho for spa treatment, the 309 stayed behind because I couldn't bear to be without it for a few weeks. Now I eagerly await the postman...

Well, it looks like I just joined the club. I managed to win a Case Yellow Delrin Peanut in CV off the Bay last night, for less than $30 shipped. It should be here Friday, and I'll certainly start putting it to work then.

I want in. My second peanut arrived today.

I'm sure it won't be long till the third.
May I join Carl?

That's an especially nice chestnut bone ya got there. Love the way it fades out lighter towards the bolsters. Sometimes they get it a little to dark. Of course, your in like Flynn!

Wow, we're really picking up cult members. May have to do a roll call of the cult to see how many we have. :D

Carl.

I suppose I qualify for membership. I have three Case Peanuts. Two Chestnut Bone CV and one Ocean Blue Jigged Bone SS.

The other Chestnut Bone CV is still in the box. I got a good deal on it so figured it didn't hurt to have a spare.

Roll Call? Checking in for me and my son

-----------

We all know there's red bone, chestnut bone, barnboard bone, amber bone, and other varieties. But why is it that a plain yella peanut with patined CV blades just looks so darn good? Like it's a timeless classic in a class by itself.

Carl.

A Case chestnut cv here and ready for duty today while getting groceries and some other chores around town. The little buddy is about 3 months now with a great patina.. has seen plenty of apples and oranges this summer so far. I live right by the Nova Scotia coast so it is difficult to keep it from rusting with the salty breeze.

And, it's official!! Though I bought my son a peanut for his first birthday, this one is my first.
I humbly submit my application for membership to the Grand High Muckba and the council of elders.

Congrats on a fine serpentine friend. Let us know how it does. And, dare i say, welcome to the cult  Hopefully the Grand High Muckba will agree..

Thank you, sir! This particular specimen is nicer in fit and finish than any other new Case I've purchased. So, right off the bat, I'm a very happy camper!

That's as good lookin' a nut as I've seen. Case does a good job on the little jacks.:thumbup:

Welcome to the cult.

I got my Peanut in the mail on Thursday. I went with a Case Yellow Delrin in CV. I would rather have bone, but I got it for a good price. I had to work on the edges a bit, but now it's sharp as a scalpel. I used it to cut up some fruit for salads the past couple of days, so it's already picking up a nice patina.

And here it is, resting next to my girlfriend's Purple Bone Peanut.

I know folks aren't always fond of Tru-Sharp, but I have to admit, it's gained my respect. My girlfriend has done things with that knife that would make grown men cry, and yet, I've only had to resharpen it a few times in the 4 years she's owned it.
