I do wish GEC would make a Dog Leg Jack framed Peanut though.

I would too, but what I would really like to see is a dogleg jack in a frame length between peanut size and the 48, but not as beefy as the 56.

Does anyone have details on the Damascus blade Peanut?

I spoke to Devon Thomas in the past year, and he told me the 2008 case raindrop damascus is 1075/nickel, like Peregrin posted. In my experience the patina can be polished by stropping with leather, same as other patinas, in the case of damascus the nickel highlights come back. The colors then change based on cutting acid foods.

2008 Case Damascus Stag Peanuts sell on the bay for about 100 bucks. They come up several times a year. They vary in scale color and texture, and some of the damascus eyes are not visible on some of the blades, that got stamped in a way that chopped the eyes off.. Most of the Case Damascus peanuts I have seen have some sort of flaw that made them not sell originally, loose springs, uncentered blades, mismatched covers.. I have used Case warranty service, and have not been very happy with them.

I recently bought a GEC Pemberton, and it has replaced my Peanut. The GEC is sturdier and flatter, I wanted a single blade knife.

I have posted a lot of photos of my Case Damascus Stag Peanut, here are links to a few of them.

Great pic Andi! This really exemplifies one of the reasons I like the peanut so much: how they pack so much blade into such a small frame :)

Thanks for all of the info and pics!

I think I'm going to go ahead and pick up a CV Peanut now and keep an eye out for a Damascus model.

there is a bone damascus peanut on the bay now... the blade pattern has the raindrop eyes chopped on the pen blade

I have the same knife with the same pattern on the pen blade.

It took a long time, but my Harvest Orange 'Nut finally arrived on Thursday. And she's mighty purdy...

Here's my one and only Peanut. Dad gave it to me years ago and it's been sitting in it's package in my knife box until only recently. I think I'll have to start carrying it around a bit.

I see alot of older peanuts, but would you guys buy a case peanut made today? the yellow case cv peanut has been mentioned but what are some of the other peanuts made by case today that you guys would buy? case only please. :D

Case is still fully capable of making a fine knife, I own Case knives from the 70's, 80's, and my Damascus Stag peanut is from 2008, and the chestnut peanut I've carried everyday for 15 months was made in 2011.

I don't like the script shields they use now.

Pete

I don't care for the current shield used on the bone peanuts either. Honestly, I wish they would leave the shield off such a small knife, like on my 1978 appaloosa bone peanut.

Doug I totally agree, but if they feel the need for a shield on the peanut the one they use on the yellow is at least legible, the script on the others are a jumbled mess IMO.

Exactly right Pete. Look at this picture of my chestnut bone peanut and my son's yellow peanut, taken when they were new, and tell me which shield more clearly depicts the company name.

Thanks Doug I was hoping you would post that side by side picture, you took the bait :-) but that is exactly what I was talking about the shield on the yellow looks so much better.
