Can't make up mind whether I want X or Y.

You are going to need Both!

If you get X, you will wonder about Y…. etc...

I found one via a google search.

IF it is actually in stock, you should ask for photos of the scale thickness. Some stag is fatter than the bolsters, and some is fatter on one side than the other. Both conditions might relieve you of your wanting, or might not..

Regarding the Esquire, look at the comparison in blade length to a Peanut. If you are not OK with the tiny blade on the Esquire, you might relieve yourself of that want.

Until you get a peanut, you really wont know what its all about. It is here to stay. The Esquire is just a passing fad.

I have two Case damascus peanuts one in carbon steel and one with stainless steel. both stag handled.

May we see pics please? I dont know what you mean by stainless damascus on a peanut... AFAIK the raindrop damascus is 1075 carbon steel, and the other part is Nickel. The only reason you can see the pattern clearly, is because the carbon steel is etched (patinaed).. At least, I think thats right..

Thanks for the reply Jon. I went with the ivory esquire as I love my current esquire. I figured the ivory is very limited while there are dozens of variations of the peanut for me to choose from at any given moment. I will end up w a yellow or chestnut before too long.

The CV Chestnut bone 'Nut arrived, and there's good news, and slightly annoying news....

Good news; the walk and talk are perfect, blades perfectly centered, no edge flat-spotting from the clip blade slapping the backspring, like on my SS Redbone, and the chestnut bone has a depth and character that is incredible, just taking it out of the package it struck me how "warm" and organic the chestnut tint was, it gives it a slightly aged look.....

Annoying news? The clip blade has a couple minor scuffs on the left side of the blade, one under the nail nick, one near the tip, the blade finish is not completely mirror polished, at first, my "modern knife" mindset was annoyed that the blade was not "perfect" out of the box, the annoyance was rather fleeting (0.68 seconds....), after all, this is a user, not a shelf queen, it's going to get patina'd up and not shiny soon enough....

So, to give the blade some character, I made myself a snack of apple slices and cara cara orange slices, it's on its way to earning it's patina now

So, now my Peanut Family has grown to three knives, with more undoubtedly on the way...
2 Red bone TruSharps, one as a user, one still in the factory sealed Brooks and Dunn clam pack
1 Chestnut bone CV....

And finally, on to the next question.....
What to do with the B&D factory sealed package?
1; open it up, let the Peanut trapped inside run free, knives are meant to be USED, not looked at
2; keep it for a gift (my 9 year old niece could need a pocketknife, the 'nut would be perfect for her fishing tackle box, problem is, it's the same exact, identical knife as her brother's)
3; sell it to one of my co-workers
4; backups, two is one, one is none....

I'll have better pics of the Chestnut this weekend, some outdoor portraits...

Mac, I'd go with options 2, or 1...I bought the same BD package at a small hardware store in Iowa a couple years ago, and the knife is a pleasure to look at, and use. But you can't go wrong giving it to your niece, either. I gave my daughter a peanut for her birthday, and she treasures it.

I only own two Peanut style pocketknives; a Colonial DC-610 and a 1990 Case Delrin 6220 SS. Both are still NOS, have never been carried - guess I'm just standing on the margins of the peanut cult. OH

I have been carrying a peanut ever since christmas and it already kicked out everything out of my pocket.. Pictures coming up soon. This is really all the knife that I need for everyday. If I wanted to have more I should use the kitchen knife or something within the toolbox in the car.

Got together a group photo for my application:

What's that little beauty at the bottom Justin? Sweet grouping, love the OT and the candy stripe too

I woke up this am, put my AG Russell pinched Peanut in my jeans' watch pocket, and got a feeling to look at Peanuts online. Bad (or good :D) idea, I picked up a Case Select Peanut in moss green Winterbottom bone. Something about swedges on a Peanut clip blade makes me gaga, I dunno...lol It'll be the first Winterbottom jigged handles I have too.

Cheers,
Griff
