Cult of the peanut , members

Maybe it is not the pattern that is important, but rather what the type of knives stand for. The ability to improvise with something smaller, and still look good doing it ;).

I am a member of the "Cult" with a shaky doctrinal statement.

It's always been about the improvising with the mantra of maximum minimalism that has been central to the cult philosophy. Other small knives like the Buck 309 and 307's, Boker 240's, mini copperheads, have always been welcome in the cult. Smll knives are all brothers under the scales.

There is nothing shaky about your doctrinal outlook.

I think one thread on the peanut cult is likely sufficient. I'm going to merge the two.

One month now of non-stop EDC in the watch pocket and used for the large majority of my daily tasks... It's been a wonderful experience and my admiration for the yellow 'Nut only continues to grow.

Since january I have been carrying a little yellow nut.. sometimes shares time and space with a buck 303 and/or a SAK pioneer

Yep, the Peanut is my "#2" in the watch pocket. I always have a 3.5" GEC in the RFP (typically a Barlow, Radio Jack or a Boys Knife). Though the past couple days it's been the Peanut and my cocobolo 48 Trapper - I love this Trapper, it's just a great pattern and I love the long slim blades. :)

PS: Gosh was just looking at this pic and realized the 48 is like a jumbo Peanut - same serpentine shape! lol

Never cared for the pattern until I stopped in smkw and handled one. I ended up walking out with one. Hasn't left my pocket since. Pictures to come.

Nice trapper.. I find it difficult to beat the peanut for easiness to carry. On the other hand the buck 303 keeps crawling back into my pocket. I like the heftyness of it but the extra length is not needed for my work (office warrior), but it is actually very handy to have buck's stainless when gardening or doing other work. Anyone else carries a peanut and a stockman?

Jackknife what do you have to say about the peanut vs the buck 303 (current not the old flat ground).. At this point for me it is about hearing the experienced. (no offence intended) .

That's a very tough question for me. I have a very long 30 plus year history with the Buck 300's. A 301 for 25 years, and 303 cadet for several more. I will always love the 300's. But…at the same time, because of my dad and his own history with the peanut, I feel a huge pull toward it. They are great little knives that in all honesty will do 98% of what we need to cut with a pocket knife. The peanut with it's needle point and thin blade, is a pocket scalpel. A pretty little pocket scalpel. But they are very different animals. If they were cars, the Buck would be a Jeep or compact pickup, and the peanut a turbocharged Minicooper.

Both will get you down the road, but it will be a different ride.

Thank you very much. It sure cuts well above it's size. What a great little knife.

They just keep getting better with time don't they Stitch? Mine hasn't been out of my reach since the day it arrived here about 6 weeks ago.
