Cult of the peanut , members

KBA, that's a drop dead gorgeous appaloosa bone 'nut. I wish Case would have made more of them. Great 'nut!:thumbup::thumb up:

You're definably in the cult!

You know I was wondering about that when I saw it. I noticed the Appaloosa etch barely visible on the blade. That's bone I believe? Never heard of a Laminate on a Peanut, but I'm far from an expert on them. That's smooth bone I think. Good eye Stitch (and update your Peanut blog?! Congrats on the 2.5 yrs) :)

PS: What's that "7053" on the front bolster? It's not the model number (which from what I see is A6220 maybe?), so what might that be?

Nice peanut KBA. You can see the main blade had "Case Appaloosa" etched on it. The #7053 on the bolster is most likely a serial No. for the production run of Appaloosa bone.

My trusty old yella Peanut after two and a half months :)

You just don't know what you're gonna get these days from Case. It took 3 returns to Case for me to hold onto one of them so you're taking a chance with them these days but I guess it's a chance you have to take.:p I just wish they had a Texas Jack in Chestnut Bone. I'd be all over that.

Wow what terrible luck. You sound like one of those guys that's been struck by lighting 3 times or something, lol. Sorry you had such a hassle. These two I have are great. I've only had a few Case knives so can only speak for those few. For their price range I've been plenty impressed with them. Maybe you can hand-pick one in a store would be best with a run of luck like that? :)

That's the only way to go with purchasing a Case, at least me. That or if the pictures didn't lie on that website where you bid and buy, I would love to get one of those Case knives from the 70's.

I'd love to get a 1940's-50's Peanut or some type of Case jackknife - in that dark red bone they had back then. Primble's pics of those old Cases he has drive me nuts. I gotta have one!

One Peanut is enough for me. It's a good slicer but the older I get the less nimble my fingers become and right now I don't even bother trying to use the pen blade because it's too hard to access. I wouldn't mind an oversized Peanut with a single clip. :D

I hear ya brother!!!

It's been depressing that everything I ever broke and/or had operated on, has become a pain, literally. I'd love a slightly larger peanut, with pulls like what is on my Northwoods stockman. Maybe Case could do a run of senior citizen peanuts, with lighter than normal pulls, and some nice popcorn stag for old fingers to grip better?

I'd buy a couple!

It's not much oversized (maybe 1/8"), but the Schrade 12OT is a single-clip, and it sits high enough out of the frame to be comfortably pinch-able. I dunno how your hands are, but it's got no half stops and fairly mild spring tension.

Just sayin'.

Alright, you guys and your knuts, I have 1 real peanut, an early to mid 70s Queen Peanut in faux Winterbottom Bone scales I've had this knife for probably 20 years and never really carried it is been part of my small Queen Winterbottom Bone collection.

So now I'm gonna try it, since I'm semi retired/disabled I don't have the need for big tactical locking folders, I find myself getting along just fine with my Traditional's for the last 8 years. It took a little while to get out of the habit of carrying the latest and greatest modern folder because of my job in the trades. It was one of those things, I made good money and if I wanted to spend $100-$200 on a modern folder I did.

Still, I always carried at least 1 traditional folder with me to compliment my modern knife, most times it was a Schrade Old Timer 2 blade Trapper, (I forget the pattern#) offer the years my accumulation of traditional patterns grew but I always carried at least a folder with a 3" main blade, typically it was a toss up between a Trapper, Medium Stockman or a Splitback Whittler. Although I had a lot of Pen knives I never really carried a smaller blade, well silly because I didn't think they were up to the daily tasks.

In the last decade I've changed my opinion, I've come to learn that smaller knives are very capable of doing most of my daily cutting tasks, especially since the demands on my daily carry knife were much less than before. Now to my point...

I'm going to clean up my only peanut and I'm going to give it a fair shot and see if I can't become a member of the cult of the peanut.

Tomorrow it goes into my pocket, it won't be alone, I'll have a GEC Congress Jack, (last year's forum knife) and my modern Seb**za but I will be making a concerted effort to make it the first knife outta my pocket for my cutting tasks.

I'll keep you updated and you can let me know if I make the requirements to become a cult member. ;)

There's the peanut on the left, second from the top.
