Cult of the Texas Jack; why should the peaNUTS get all the glory

Picked up a Texas jack and medium jack a couple weeks ago. I like the rounded bolsters of the medium.

All the testimonials have me almost persuaded to put the Texas jack on my wish list.
What's holding me back are the square bolsters. Anyone have something very similar to recommend, but with rounded bolsters? Thanks.

...
for me, rounded bolsters seem to make a knife more aerodynamic, ie slips out of pockets easier. Now this aint scientific or nuthin, just my experience. Visually i prefer the rounded bolsters but in real use i seem to prefer the square bolstered knife.

Not scientific, but it makes some sense, and is worth thinking about… OK, I thought about it, and I still prefer the knife I think is pretty, even if there's a chance she could slip away (knives and women are kind of similar, I guess :D).

Well, one thing about the squared bolsters - makes for accelerated pocket wear depending on where you carry it. I was carrying mine vertically along the outside edge of my wallet in my back pocket. The pants I was wearing during that time have holes worn through the pocket material right where the knife always rode. I've found that the rounded bolsters of a Case 6318 Stockman seem to reduce that issue.

You can take a look at the 87 pattern (this one is a 22087), sometimes called a Texas Jack, but always a serpentine jack. A lot of blade in a small package - what the Peanut could be if it had more juice!! OH

Here is my medium Texas jack that I picked up a few weeks prior. As I said before I like the rounded bolsters and serpentine shape of the medium

I prefer the rounded bolsters, too, but what sets the 62032 TJ apart is the terrific zulu spear secondary . . . the only pattern I know of that has that distinctively useful shape.

that pen blade is a beefy beauty thats for sure ;)

I've probably posted this comparison picture before in this thread.

Clockwise from the top:
- Small Texas Jack, 62032 Amber Bone CV
- Medium Jack, 62087 Brown Barnboard SS
- Texas Jack, 6292 Brown Jigged Bone (?) CV
- Medium Jack, 62032 Sunset Winterbottom Bone SS

We except the slightly smaller medium jack in our cult, we are pretty inclusive, unlike those anti-larger-than average peaNUT fans :p

Well, I am grateful to be accepted, even if my pocket carries something of an oddball. I do think of my medium jack sort of as a "stretched" peanut. It has the sexy curved serpentine pattern of the peanut, but the curves are not quite as full as on the shorter version. The longer pen blade does seem to have its uses.

I can see what you mean in John's comparison photo; always dilemmas!
Thanks for the photos of some round bolster alternatives to the Texas Jack, OH and Dave and John.
