These two here were more challenging than most. Carbon Fiber Military with what looks like an Emerson clip supplied by the owner. I have a pic here of just the scale. Clip made to mount for tip up carry, and three inserts threaded for the 2-56 screws inlayed into the inside of the scale to hold it better since CF is notorious for not holding theads very well.
Second. The most difficult clip I've ever made and a filler plate was created also to inlay into the old factory clip position for tip down since this one was going tip up cary on the Skirmish seen here. This clip was designed by the owner of the knife. I changed it a tad to show the colored dimples a bit better. This wide made it very difficult to bend for me since I do all my work by hand. Its one of those I don't want to do do again.
I recently received my CF BG42 Milie from STR with his famous low-rider clip attached. The first two thoughts that enetered my mind when I opened the package:
1. Wow! This clip is great!
2. Wow! This guy is fast!
Here is a new Military Low rider I did a bit differently. I try not to get too redundant in posting a lot of the same thing over and over but this one was ordered a bit differently so I thought it was worth a new post.
Got a guy coming by this afternoon to pick up a replacement clip for a broken Delica (old style barrel clip). I had an old scale leftover from a Tasman Salt rebuild so I thought I'd knock it out now rather than make him wait later. Besides he wants a ride in my Pinzgauer and we want to enjoy that rather than work.
I've been meaning to try the new digital on pocket clips too so here is one of a Storm II with a new low rider and a more appealing thumb stud. Well, at least to the the owner.
Been kind of hard to post clips much when you keep getting the same models all the time for the jobs but I don't see this one much at all so it wasn't so redundant to put it up. Nice little knife here. I really like the color of these scales over the black. Seen below is a Limited Edition Mel Pardue BenchMade Mini Grip in 154CM now sporting a custom made titanium low rider pocket clip in blue jean blue for a little "Urban Camo" with slacks.
I'd have to look at the clip on that one again. It seems like I backed out on it for some reason or maybe the owner of the knife did. I just don't recall.
I'll look up some links to pics of it and see. Right off I don't recall what it looked like to be honest.
I'll post back when I find out what I need to know.
Thanks for asking
EDIT: Ok well that didn't take long. I pulled up the first picture and realized immediately. Note how close to each other the screws in that clip are and the fact that its got a recess cut out in the handle? This makes it very very difficult for me for two reasons. One is of course the size of the heads of the mounting screws. These determine the size of the hole you would need to place the clip on the scale and screw it down. As a result the clip would have to be very wide at the top there for the holes because it would have one big open area to stick them through not two holes since in fact the diameter of each head is big enough to make it near impossible to allow me to do two separate holes. This in turn weakens the clip which is counter to what most want. The only way to compensate for that is to make it wider up top so there is ample thickness to support tension. It is liable to be one that is anything but invisible to the hand and perhaps a total waste of titanium from the looks of it. So, that is why I backed out.
The second reason of course is the recess. I have trouble coming up with a clip that would work for that one at an affortable cost due to the amount of time each would take. Just far too much for a clip. Sorry.
