Custom SAK modder - HAIII Alox and Ti conversions - Pic Heavy examples

I just found this thread, and I'm amazed by your custom SAKs!

Is it possible to do a two layer Alox in 84mm or 83mm alox with the scissors, philips, opener (or combo tool), and main blade?

I was about to order a new Compact, but I might have to shoot you a PM instead.

Here is my latest little mod. A 58mm minichamp with brass lines and scales. This uses 0-80 threaded screws with a drilled and tapped back scale.

Hello all, just a quick update to what types of Mods I do now.

I stopped taking orders for the 84mm cadet size. I don't have custom springs made for that SAK size and adding custom tool configurations is really difficult. The scales are also so thin I can't countersink the torx screws as nicely. Now I may return to working on that size in the future if I come up with a better method of assembling them.

Most people want mods done based on the 93mm pioneer size and by far that is mostly what I work on. I still run hard anodized scales in black/red/blue and I have cerakote in safety orange/OD green/white. I do hard anodized liners in black and red, and I also make liners from brass and titanium. I also can do black oxide on the tools and springs.

Other than the 93mm size I do work on the little keychain 58mm. Mostly rescaling in Ti and brass and using small 0-80 T5 screws to assemble.

The last 58mm I did was actually a copper scaled, brass lined one, which is the first time I have ever used copper and it was an interesting material.

I just want to also say thanks to all the people who have contacted me for custom work. The response has been significant! I had no idea so many people were looking for custom SAK work, but they are quite a popular tool, that is legal to carry mostly all over the world.

For anyone else looking for custom work, please feel free to contact me for a quote. I do not take any upfront money, but I usually have a wait list of 5-6 weeks for custom work. I am working on pre modding some SAKs in batches of 10s and offering them for sale, but I havent had time to get that underway yet.

Thanks!

Do you do mods to the new, lockblade "Soldier Knife". I feel like they did a pretty good job, and I like the main blade, but they missed the mark on the tools. I'd want scissors and a small plain blade as if taken from the Super Tinker in place of the saw. If I had to give up the can opener, so be it. I'd I would want the tweezers! To me they just missed it by that much really. If it had those things, I'd be happy as a clam.

Hi, I haven't worked on the 111mm size yet. I would need some custom springs to be able to fit different tools on there like I do with the 93mm. For sure one day I will tackle that, but right now Im super busy just keeping up with the small size SAKs.

Thanks for the inquiry though,
Cheers

Todays project was fitting a fat 154cm clip point to a 93mm frame. :D

That looks great. Are customers supplying the knives to mod, or do you have a source for different blades and parts.. That clip point blade for example looks amazing.

The stock swiss army knives I have a big supply of for parts, but sometimes customers already have parts and donors so I just charge labor and msc parts cost in that case.

That clip point is a custom made blade by a blademaker, and that knife is payment for the service. Ive got a few left that I'll put into other knives though. I've got some Damasteel that is next up for a custom blade, but I want to practice on some cheaper steels before I cut into that.

Cheers

Hi Rob. I sent an email about the SAK mod we emailed about a couple months ago. That copper scaled piece looks pretty wicked. :)

I hope it's alright to post these... Rob just sent these out to me, and I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. WOOT! Love them!

Ditto... Would love to see an example of the black oxide coating you do.
And would you consider coating blades other than saks.
