Custom Slipjoints

All three are very nice Jim. I don't know anything about KR Johnson.

Mike,

He posts somewhat regularly in the knifemaker's "for sale" area.

I have one of his custom sodbusters. Gimme a call if you want me to send it out to you.

Ah, (slap to the forehead) now I remember! I need to check the makers sub forum more often. Thanks Elliott.

I just went back an looked at all the knives in this thread! My eyes are watering, and my head is spinning; this is just an incredible collection of traditionally-styled handmade beauty!! What a rich history of knifemaking, in such a short time. It seems like Blues just started this thread a couple of months ago; I just went back and looked. It's about six months.
We must preserve this thread for our rocking chair days!!

In the interests of our rocking chair days mentioned above, I thought I better post this knife to keep the record complete. Every day since I got them, this knife and my current Avatar Bose WT, accompany me everywhere I go. I realize Ken's knife is in another thread, but it belongs here in this exalted company!!
Will there ever be other EDCs for me?? I'm pretty spoiled!!:D

The scratch is on my scanner; sorry!

Hello Ladies & Germs,

I have a custom here that I acquired several months ago that I would like to submit in this thread. I have seen and handled his work back in the mid to later 1990's. The following knife was produced by Henry Parker (H K PARKER) whom I know nearly nothing about. What I do know is what I read from the knife and little else. I know he does not produce knives any longer. I know the materials, fit and finish, file work, lock up open and close, are incredible to my eye and feel. I don't get too exited about most custom knives any more, partly because I have owned and handled my fair share and then some, but this one got my attention.

These are not my pictures, as my camera is got some problems at this moment.. If everyone of you all could please take a look at these and if any of you has any information to add from yours, or others experience, I would be much obliged!.

Anthony, that is a fine piece of work from a real master. Henry (H.K.) Parker is an Arkansas maker who, to the best of my knowledge, is retired from making knives. I have owned one of his folders (traded it to VCM many moons ago), and I have handled probably a half-dozen other of his folders at local gun and knife shows. His folders define "smooth" and his fit and finish is par excellance in every example of his work I have had the pleasure to handle.

Here's a link to a little bit of history about him:

Here's a shot of the redwood burl folder (not a slipjoint, but I thought you might like to see it) I traded to Vince awhile back:

I've owned no less than 8 of Henry's ( H. K. Parker) knives and all but two were purchased from him. He used to set up at a show I frequented in Springfield, MO. Henry was the second maker, after Ray Cover, whose work I took an interest in. Henry's knives represented a nearly unpresidented value in custom slipjoints. Henry's table prices for slipjoints ranged from $150 to $200 when I last saw him set up. When I met Henry he was already on the way out of the business and would not accept any orders. His work with slipjoints was perhaps five years ahead of it's time, and thus quite undervalued. The one thing I didn't like was his almost exclusive use of raised or exposed pivot pins.

This one without that feature is certainly in the minority:thumbup:

Wow, have I told you all lately that I love ya's. :D Well I do. Thanks to James, Ford, Blues and Durwood. It seems to me that the wealth of knowledge here regarding traditional's is incredible. From customs here to factory's elsewhere in this forum, you all rule!. And I am grateful!.

Thanks again for all the posts and PM's fella's!

Just got this one in from Rick, 1200S, the pictures really do not do the knife Justice. I love the Wharnies and Perfect matching scales. Thanks Rick.

Have always wanted a John Perry folder. Got that chance at A.G.'s event in Rodgers, AK. Nice slipjoint, thin with integral stainless bolsters, CPM 154 steel, and smooth, very distinct middle-of-the-road pull, half-stop included. John makes a great folder, for sure.

This thread is great. I have been eyeing that Bose thread. Got a chance to see some of the Case collaboration pieces at a knife shop over the weekend, but I would like to pick up a real custom Bose. Just like everyone else would, to be sure. Being poor gives you time to really think about what you're going to buy. I plan on saving up for a custom slipjoint, which would be my first custom folder. Looking at no more than 350, but ones offered in that range are mainly single blade patterns.

Joe, that John Perry really looks nice. Thanks for showing that one.
