Cutlery Proposals for the Bladeforums 2015 Knife

I'm really hoping Case comes through with a very unique proposal.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but neither knife so far really has me excited.

I'm not sure what it is about the csc offering, but I just can't get into it.

maybe its because its a shadow, the length...don't know.

No offense to Eric, its a beautiful design but just not my thing.

As i said I'm definitely in the minority here.

I don't know if you are in the minority.
I too like the CSC offering, compared to the GEC as is I like it better, but I would not buy either of them if they were not the forum knife, too big. Or too long to be more accurate.
Unless Case has been instructed to keep their knife at 4" I think they just might be able to steel the show (pun intended :)) with a single spring 2-blader between 3.25" and 3.75". Especially if the price is more Case-like.

Of the proposals, I prefer Eric's shadow pattern, but I have to agree, I'm not particularly excited about either of the patterns either.

I'm also in the minority here. I'm not crazy about shadow patterns. I would prefer the GEC with either of the spey or a sheepsfoot secondary blade. I really like the clip blade shown in the drawing. I like the Jig Bone and would be fine with it as is.
I'd still like to see a gunstock pattern but it doesn't look like there's any chance of that happening.

I'm not a Sheepsfoot fan at all.

Blasphemer! I'm going to report this to the Moderators before you say that you hate 1095 and sully this subforum even more! If you said you hate Peanuts, I'd ask for an immediate ban! ;)

I second the gunstock pattern. I love Ohta san's gunstocks and would love to see one done in a larger 3.5inch pattern. I also believe I wouldn't be buying either of these unless they were the forum knife. Not too crazy about them other than the fact that they're for a forum I'm a part of now.

 I will cast my vote with the smaller knife. The 3.25-3.75 inches range would get it into more pockets more often.

Very true.

If a 4" frame is chosen, then it really must have a long, proportionate Master blade. Nothing worse in my book than a long frame and an undersized blade, looks ridiculous.

The blade on the CSC version would probably be 3", same as on their stockman.

Well as long as people are here talking about lengths, I admit that that is the one thing I don't like about either company's knife right now. I prefer the CSC and like it quite a bit since Eric made the changes. But, I'd much prefer a knife in the 3.25-3.5 range. That being said, because this is a forum knife I'll be in even if it is 4".

I to am put off by the size. I like both offerings, but not sure either of them call to me.

Can't wat t see what case brings to the table.

Guess I'll buck the trend and say I prefer the 4 inch closed length. I've gotten used to a longer knife. The CSC is a really cool knife.

I like the CSC proposal more than the GEC but I'm with you guys on the size. 4" is pushing the limit for a folder. For me 3-5/8" is the sweeeeeeet spot.

Yup!

Agreed about the length, my favorite is 3.5! I am still in, but this will be my largest traditional knife if it remains the same size.

I prefer the GEC, but I've kinda got the same feeling. I was really looking forward to some sleeve board knife.

Just to clarify my earlier comments. Knives larger than about 3 3/4" have no appeal to me. They simply will not be carried. The CSC offer, which exceeds my threshold, would need to be really special before I would order. The CSC is looking promising. I hope one of the suppliers develops something extra compelling, beyond being an existing pattern rebranded as the BF 2015 knife. The forum knives in the past all seem to have special elements. Obviously, the forum knife is important to a lot of people just look how long this thread has become!
