Cutlery Proposals for the Bladeforums 2015 Knife

If we go with 440c, I wonder if it is possible to go with a satin or as ground blade finish?

I am not a fan of the full mirror polish.

I will second the 'as ground' type finish.
To me the crisp edges that get lost in the polishing give the blade a higher quality look.

I still like the CSC shadow with the lower profile. Makes my "must have it" alarm go off. I don't get the same feeling with the GEC.

Ditto. This is still the best picture I have seen on this thread:

Although I am not a fan of a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blade. I already own both a letter opener and a box cutter. Just about anything else would be preferable. But as long as there is another good blade, it is not a deal-killer for me. I would prefer a steel which is easier to sharpen. And satin finish is cool.

Agreed, in the end, as long as it's 1095 since CSC can't source 14-4Cr Mo anymore I'll end up getting it. I wonder how a satin finish on 1095 would patina.

I'm still in the CSC camp, the second version, satin finish and lowered secondary. If it ends up being the GEC, I'd prefer a coping blade secondary myself, but a sheepsfoot wouldn't stop me from buying one or anything. And I just like carbon steel so that's how my vote would go for either, but again not a deal breaker. Both pretty good choices this year, the CSC just trips my trigger a little more.

Well put, I agree that an as ground finish is the way to go for this knife!

Thought I would throw my ten cents in the mix.

I enjoy this forum and will be honored to pocket any knife produced with the bladeforums stamp. I'm not one for stainless or even this certain pattern, but if that is what becomes of it I'll enjoy it all the same because it will remind me of who the folks are on here. I could list positives traits of this traditional subforum, but I have already written enough to bore people. The knife means more to me than a tool, collectable piece, or another piece of cutlery to play with, it reminds me of the family like atmosphere and the friends I have made.

I will be proud to buy, carry, and use whatever you guys decide on. That's my ten cents.

I had hoped the CSC offering could be 14-4CrMo as I don't have a knife in it. That said, I'm perfectly fine with 440C or whatever steel CSC decides to use.

So does canal street only have 1095 now or do they have another stainless available? I was really hoping for the csc, stanless, and some other wood for their covers.
I am surprised at the amount of support that gec has picked up after offering blade options. I thought the csc was a shoe in there for a minute.
This has been a very cool process to watch unfold, and I kick myself more and more for not getting involved with the '14 knife when I had the chance.
