Danny Collection is here...

I believe we found out recently that the date on the box is not the build date.
My knife also has a "box date" of 03/03/2023. Railsplitter you are correct... the date on the box is the date it was boxed and put on a shelf. There are knives with 2023 box dates with 2022 blade stamps. This was confirmed to me by Buck as well.

The date on the box is the date the SKU tag was printed and most likely the knives where boxed up. The 5160 blade was selected because it is a common request on the forum. A characteristic of 5160 is how quickly it can get surface rust. The knives were built in the last week of February and the blades wiped down with oil before boxing. If you would like to send them back to me please let me know but understand this is common with 5160 and will require maintenance.

. . . but understand this is common with 5160 and will require maintenance.

Maintenance is one thing (once the knife is in the buyers hand), but I feel Buck should not send out 5160 blades, or any blades, with discoloration or rust. It seems to me that Buck should be maintaining, or at least cleaning the 5160 blades a little better. Especially at this price.

Leaving my two cents but taking my soap box with me : )

If I sold a knife, and used a picture of a shiny clean blade in the ad at point of sale, and when the buyer received It it had rust on the blade........ I guarantee the buyer would be upset.

I have a couple of those dessert warrior knives with sprinkles, but not the expensive ones. They offered one recently and it was sold out just minutes after I got the email notice.

Just think how great acquiring limited run knives will be once the knife resellers start using bots like the concert ticket resellers.

We do manually confirm each order to make sure customers do not order more than allowed or place 2 orders back to back.
I would think for the really limited knives, like the turquoise one, the Buck employees would grab them. Am I right in saying that no one showed their turquoise acquisition here yet?

Edit: I am very happy with the buffalo horn one and I hope Buck does more special runs like that where I am lucky enough to get in on the deal and that I can afford. I usually miss out on those deals.

H HolyRoller Nicely done sir.

I like the steel myself with Bucks heat treat of it. even with stains or rust I still want runs in it.
I second JB's thoughts. Love 5160 regardless of its poor corrosion resistance.

I Am I right in saying that no one showed their turquoise acquisition here yet?
I think you're right. I have not seen any other Vanguards and no Skinners. Maybe some lucky member is saving pics for this week's SPS. Although, I wonder if members here had an opportunity to pick up the 923 or 192. They went so quick.

There's a lot of folks that just hang out on the computer all day long.

My opinion is any time Buck has such a limited run it should be a limit of one per customer.

Being able to buy more only encourages flipping.

Then it becomes a game I'm no longer interested in playing.
