Forgiveness is overated. He isn't sorry. In his Youtube thread he is saving his bootlickers comments and deleting all of his critic's comments. Go figure! Forgiveness denied.:thumbdn:

I think what bothers me most about his seeming nonpology is that he feels the need to bring god and religion into it like its what will absolve him of his wrongdoing. What ever happened to acting and thinking as a christian before you make poor decisions that get you into trouble?I've met too many pious people whom seem to believe that they should not be judged, yet constantly judge others. They are happy to preach the word to others, yet allow themselves to commit any sin they feel like and feel they are jusified in doing so. Only when they are caught in their hypocrisy do they repent and ask forgiveness.
Indeed.

As a 20 Year Retired Army Infantry NCO, I have to say a few words on this issue. For those who have never served, to forgive is easy, you did not have to sweat, bleed and miss alot of time with family, you never had to live in the field for weeks on end with out a bath on very little sleep or walk 20-30 miles with a 100 pound Ruck on your back. I could go on and on, or go to the two yes two Wars our Nation sent me and many others. You never had to carry the bodys of fallen young Men that if it were not for War and their Service they would be with us today. To lie about Military Service is a disgrace period, The God fearing side of me forgives this Man but the Soldier in me says he is and still is a Coward, Period. From this day forward, I will never watch his youtube vids again, that is my right I served for 20 years so we all have a right, and yes those that forgive and forget that is your right too, I served for you too! May God bless you all and the United States of America.

Enough already! As an Active Duty Army Soldier, I'll be the first to accept his apology...was his embellishment a disgrace? Sure it was, but I truly don't think it was done maliciously or for evil intent. I wish him and his family the best and hope his business continues to prosper; he still has a lot of skill to share with others. I don't see Dave as a black mark in the "survival skills" community; if anything he's been admonished, admitted his errors and asked for forgiveness; we should accept his apology and move on.

Well put Rock. I couldn't agree more.

If he is truly sorry, then I can forgive him. But I do not think I can support him. I have a hard time with people that embellish their military career. My great grandfather fought and came back from the war with a purple heart, he was also not the same after he came back either. This is same the same reason I have not bought a Strider. I would try and team up with Equip 2 Endure fellows.

Dave did what anyone can do. He can't do more.

We all have faults, and it takes integrity and guts to admit it.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:18

On a lighter note, what hat was he wearing, I liked it.

PS- Apology accepted sir. Who doesn't exaggerate on their resume. Unless someone tells me otherwise, he still served and I thank him for his service.

"Who doesn't exaggerate on their resume." I never did. But I know plenty that have and have gotten away with it.

Embellished his resume, I have a hard time with the embellisments that I recall he did. Had to eat crow big time. However, he apologized and I believe him. I think he has a lot to offer in the survival school business. Did this hurt is marketability... certainly. I have to admit I liked his contributions to Dual Survival. He did some stupid stuff... like the bees, but it was TV. I liked the raft idea in KY even though it was not successful and I don't think I would have the courage to try it. The shunk... pure TV; he would have just killed it in the real world as I would have. I have seen every show more than one.

I wish you guys would quite using ..."Embellished" and tell it like it is! He LIED! Don't sugar coat it.

7 years ARMY M1 Tank Crewman -- I am VERY PROUD of my service, but I would NEVER brag about it!!

good point.

i really hope that the unforgiving people aren't supporting Strider knives in any way.

that would be hypocrisy at the highest level...

I concur, I left a few comments on one of the similiar threads. Will have to check this video out myself. As far as the resume I wonder how the channel (Discovery) may have played a part in it.

I might also add that it appears Discovery must have felt compelled to get Joe with a background such as his.

money is the root of all evil my friend.

whens the last time that the Discovery channel offered you a large sum of money living your dream?

he in fact embellished/lied on his resume.

it was wrong indeed but people do it every single day.

i've taken assessment tests in the past that ask questions that most likely everyone stretches the truth on.

for instance, one of the questions was about driving through a yellow light.

what they want to hear is that you never would dream of driving through a yellow light (which proves that you aren't a risk taker).

the reality is we're human, situations happen and we blow through yellows and occasionally pink lights (as i've come to call them).

they expect you to answer as if you're a perfect human being.

knowing that, we tell them what they want to hear regardless of its validity.

i'm not justifying what dave did by any means.

i realize that lying about military background is damn near unforgivable but consider the circumstances.

let's not forget that he did serve our country at the very least.

I forgive him for lying. I enjoyed the show. I wish him well.

However, I unsubscribed from all of his social networks. I'm not going to support him. Maybe for a bit, maybe forever - who knows. I understand why he did it, but he just didn't fib a little - he lied on several counts. He gets to keep the money and recognition he earned while on the show. But for now I'm not listening to anything else he says.

Guess I'm a "bootlicker" since I posted that way on youtube. As a former Marine Infantry vet, I don't give aa damn. He's a vet, he embellished some I guess, but that's no concern of mine. At least he served, usually people lie altogether about serving.

So many people have been busted lying about what they did in the military in online forums and singles bars, that I just about won't believe anybody that uses that as evidence of their "expertise" anymore, until they can PROVE to me they served how they say they did.

I wish Dave hadn't done it, but I still have to give him credit for the public apologies, that until proven otherwise, I accept, because to refuse to IMO, is to claim you know his heart, and I know I can't say I can.
