Well I just received my SOG SEAL 2000 and thought "hey why not another knife it's only been 3 days" so I am now ordering a WSK from Dave Beck. I can't wait to get this one. I will definetly put it to some use in the bush trying to make tools and shelters and fire bows etc. I will also post pics and a review as well when I receive mine. I think after this one I will buy a sharpmaker and then take a break from buying (but that KA-BAR next generation is tempting).

By the way I have e-mailed Dave a couple of times and he is very friendly as well as quick with his responses. So if you have a question for him about the knife go ahead and e-mail him you won't be disapointed.

I don't think you'll need that next gen ka-bars if you have the sog seal...i personally don't like the handles on the kabars but if you do, go for it! those are made from D2 right or am i thinking of the wrong ones...

please answer my question ~~~~~~~~~~

All of Dave's sheaths are custom fit to each individual knife. There is no way the knife is falling out unless you carry it upsidedown. The sheath hugs the knife perfectly. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for posting the pics. VM, looks like you're having tons of fun testing the WSK! Do you plan on getting the companion blade? When I am able to place my order, I want to get the ride along blade as well.

Vermonster, what serial(WSK) # did you get?? Where abouts do you live in Vermont? If you don't want to answer this I understand. I was checking out some realestate online the other day. My family used to have a place in North Hero. I think we were about an hour from Burlington. Have not been to Vermont in 17 very long years. Miss it terribly. Also help convince me some more to keep my TOPS. Give me some pros. Thanks,Greenbladepb

Clearly, You fella's (Simon Pig and lchine) need some sort of counseling....You have issues and it frightens me............

I do however concur with what Jaeger stated, you will not be disappointed with the knife sheath. You just lose the ability to carry inverted. Not a big deal unless you feel it's necessary kill a tree, or your friend for that matter, quicker.

The sheath I have is VERY, VERY well done and the friction fit is VERY good. The knife kind of quietly snaps into it.

The pictures;

The first picture is of me stripping the bark of the small tree with the draw knife. This bark, on the young tree's, makes pretty good cordage. The cordage was used to tie together a frame for the back side of a small shelter that was constructed with the Beck. I have before/after pictures of the shelter but they did not come out as I had hoped.
( I will look them over again and send them to AlphalphaPB. AlphalphaPB has gone out of his way and in my opinion ABOVE AND BEYOND to get these up for all to see. I am indebted to him. Thank you brother.)

The next picture is of a spring loaded snare. If you look to the upper right hand corner of the picture you can see the small hook and notched piece that holds the "loaded" snare in the ready position.
This set up required VERY small notches and pieces. They were done with the Beck. It is capable of small tasks. Of course it would have been easier to do with the SAK, but what fun would that have been.

Next picture is of a figure 4 trap constructed with the Beck. No problem encountered.

I did not get a chance to test the sawbacks like I had hoped. This weekend will be a little less busy.

tknife,
I do plan on eventually getting the W.S.K. companion, but I don't need it right now. I really like the SAK Rucksack and have found it to be a great little very versatile companion knife.

greenbladepb,
I have #560
As far as keeping the TOPS, I went through an nasty wire fence with mine in no time. That feature works well. Email me MNault@pshift.com

hk33ka1, you need to pick up an SAS Survival Guide (HarperCollins Publishers) It contains a plethora of info. including Fig 4 and numerous other traps. They are about $10.

Nice pictures Simon Pig. How about some closeups of the actual grindlines on the draw section of the blade. # side and opposite side.
