David Mirabile RONIN Battle Tanto WIP (PAGE 25 NEW CUTTING VIDEO)

I'll just have to agree with everything said previously. To me, it's as if this piece just grew to an organic perfection through natural selection - everything as it should be, where it should be, and as effective as possible. It's incredible that David can achieve this with each blade he makes. Thank you Joe and David for bringing this one to life. Thank you Coop for the amazing feat of capturing this perfection and making it so satisfying to view. Mike (and yes I can be this much of a granola bar without help :D)

Okay

The pic is here !!!!!!

Jim as usual captured everything to perfection

Thank you Jim

So with out further ado .... THE MIRABILE BATTLE O-TANTO/WAKIZASHI

Faaantastic blade!

Great pics which convey the beauty but the blade must be something to behold in person.

Talk about pride of ownership.

Very convenient size for both vehicle and else where.

I look forward to reports about it being carried and used.

Thank you all

I am heading out today to get away with the family but I thought I'd leave you all with a video clip from the movie Twilight Samurai

It is a great movie and with out ruining it for any that wish to watch it I'll be brief in telling the plot that builds to this scene

Out hero is a widowed poor Samurai that is forced into the world of being a single parent in a very unforgiving time and place for it

He is sent to kill a Samursi that has gone a bit mad ..... He is especially trained in the use of the WAKIZASHI

This end scene shows the advantage of a shorter sword in close quarters and for all that like Samurai films this is a compelling film that shows the more human side of the genre

What an extraordinary work!!!! David's incredible skills, Jim's fantastic photography, and Joe's relentless desire for perfection.....many congratulations to you all, an epic outcome and thank you for sharing this with us.

The Coopers were kind enough to meet me on their way thru New Jersey today and say hello and hand deliver this incredible piece to me

Thank you Jim, Susan and Trevor

The Coopers make this community great :)

Their work is an integral part of all of my projects and its importance can not be underrated

After a quick hello I was on my way back to work and they were on their way to hopefully have some fun :)

I got home late in the day changed my clothes and grabbed my camera and headed outside to grab the last of the daylight

I must admit not having my constant outside companion with me Tuco kinda dampened my mood but I have been anticipating the delivery of this piece so much an UNBOXING video could not wait

After dealing with David's overly secure packing treatment you will see I was almost at a loss for words on the shear awesomeness of this piece

I will reserve more comments till I actually get to start using this incredible piece

Some initial impression ........they are going to be rather grand

If this thing cuts like I think it will it is destined to be one of the greatest blades I have ever had the pleasure to own

Now that is a pretty grand statement I know

I have some works of art from some of the best high performance Smiths on the planet but this piece is really that impressive to behold and feel in person

Before I opened the package I borrowed a sword bag from a traditional WAKIZASHI in my collection till the new sword bag comes in for this piece and after opening this piece the shear blade shape and geometry of this piece compared to a more traditional piece is staggering

The blade is much wider from spine to edge more like a Goza cutter

It's robustness and raw organic visceral look and feel put this piece into another world

Truly a modern adaptation of one of the wickedest genres of battle blade ever created

David I can't thank you enough

This is truly one of the greatest swords in my collection and I have a lot of swords many in that 10 k range so what more can I say but here is video 1 The UNBOXING Video

Much more to come and many more impressions and cutting videos to follow

The sword has many dazzling details, but the entire package is much more than the sum of its parts. The textured, dark and somehow silvery look of the carbon fiber, the muted, metallic shimmer of the guard and habaki, almost insect-like. Set off by the ivory and the silver of the blade. The raw-forged flats arcing out of the habaki make the hilt and blade truly seem seem like one. It's gotta be one of the best swords I've seen.

Also, fun fact: a whale dick is also called a "dork," which is ironic since that's what a lot of people would call someone who's super excited about a sword! :D

Great unboxing video.

What a beautiful work of art and extremely practical at the same time.

That thing is sooo YOU..... (and Im not talking about the whale ****, but the Mirabile Masterpiece, as its henceforth known:D)

"Totally..., totally..........awesome."

Yessiree bob.

Congrat's to Mr. Mirabile... The overall package is exquisite and the execution of all the desired small details is astounding. Well Done Sir.

Congrat's to the Coopers... They captured so much detail and assembled them all in a way that begs to be looked at over and over. Fantastic work.

Congrat's to Mr. Paranee... The (subtle) "Awe" you displayed in the video really hows how much this blade means to you. It's a good pairing.

Love the video. You know you nailed a piece when the new owner reacts like Joe. Perfect piece for the owner and application.

Great video Joe, nice to see someone dream blade become a reality. Thanks for sharing it.

That's quite the education I got there. ^^ Seriously, many of us can't tell the subtleties at first, but I KNOW IT WHEN I FEEL IT. Whoaaa! Now I know why.

Funny how you call David "Dave", and even call me "Jimmy" in person. No one but my longest friends and family call me that. It feels right from you. :) Instinct?

Looking forward to your testing,

David: Just super. I apologize for not rewrapping the purple blanket with 6' of paracord as you did. Lol!

Thank you Sam

David won best sword at Blade a few years ago ...... And there is definitely a reason :)

Btw great description of the piece ..... it has so much going on but it all flows together in a visceral almost graphic novel type sees ........if that makes sense :)
