Deposit/ordering instructions for HTM Forum Gunhammer -- ***IMPORTANT***

Don't worry, Hark and I are both pestering Darrel to do the Pantone code we were hoping for. Darrel says he and the anodizing guy will try to do it if we want, but he did caution that the anodizing layer will be thinner (and thus less durable) with the dark green color we're wanting, as compared to the gray and other colors in the HTM lineup. But if we're willing to trade some coating strength for the color we want -- and I'm fine with that trade -- he'll do it.
Prob a good idea to make a new post and see what everyone wants. The green you guys want but at the loss of some durability, or the "grey" that Darrel suggested.

The grey doesn't look bad. It's just not anywhere close to green. lol. But something tells me this is best left for a new poll.

Hmm. I better go ahead and file the PayPal dispute, huh? I kid, I kid. I only used PP due to the bank troubles I have been having lately. Apparently its hard for BofA to understand that I buy things with my money. My card has been shut down several times this year. I bought a washer (~$1,000) and it was fine, bought a dryer two days later (~$1,000) and my card was shut down. It was a matching set from the same place haha. Then, I couldn't get someone in English for customer service. Shameful.

It get's touchy when people have paid a non-refundable deposit expecting a particular color, but I am good with either the green OR the grey - and actually prefer grey myself.

My last name is moon, so I use the mqqn moniker.

I told Darrel the same thing. He's committed to using the Pantone 3435. He just wants folks to know that it will be less durable. However, it is not as though the anno will suddenly just flake off.

Okay, so we're good to go on the anodizing color, then. It's still durable stuff, just not crazy durable like the Type 3.

Like mqqn said, people committed to a particular color, and I think there'd be a lot more issues with changing that (or even putting it to a vote) than with the anodizing being Type 2 instead of Type 3.

Sounds good. All that's left now is to send Darrel a pic of the blade marking locations for both sides.

I want durable!!! Oh well. Lol. That's Why this color is called Gamble Green. Durability will be a gamble on the type 2 finish. Lol

I don't care either way, it could be pink and I'd still want it! I just want a Gunhammer, it has been on my "to-get" list for a while, this forum Gunhammer just came about at the perfect time for me. I'll be happy no matter the color.

His Gunhammers used to be military type II hard anno. They were plenty durable to me. I haven't noticed a difference between his older Gunnies with type II versus the current generation with type III. If you're like me, you carry your knife in a pocket away from keys and other things that can prematurely scuff the finish. If you just toss your knife in with your keys and change, no hard coat anno will hold up in the long term.

Can we do a poll for the Type II vs. Type III?

I'd prefer the more durable coating, myself.

My interpretation of the matter is that he can't do type III hard anno in the Pantone color you guys want. If you want type III, it will be grey. However, the vocal majority want green, so I'm guessing green it stays (Pantone 3435 IIRC). Poll is up to neuron, but I agree that if the color changes this far into the project, there will be a lot of unhappy folks especially after the deposit.

I care on this one. The color was one of the main draws for me to this project. I've been vocal about wanting green for a while. If the color changes, I'll be requesting a refund and backing out on this one. The Type 2 anodizing on the earlier models has proven to be plenty durable for me, even carried in pocket constantly.

Yep, as far as I know it is, too. Darrel just wanted to be sure that people knew it'd be Type 2 anodizing, which, just to reiterate, is plenty durable.

Anyone get a confirmation email yet?

Not this guy.

Also, can they do an OD Green or something that is Ano Type 3? Is there anything close to what we want? I have a flashlight that is Type 2 in Black and it has no scratches after a few years. Type 2 is pretty tough stuff, but not carrying anything in your knife pocket helps a ton.
