Destructive Knife Testing Videos???. . . . Oh Yeah!!!

I'll be willing to donate a few non-Busse specimens for comparison if required :D ... but I don't think that is the intention from Jerry anyway. He wants to demo his product, not try to demean other manufacturers, not his style.

step 1) create a new one of a kind blade made just for this event
step 2) take said blade and bury it hilt deep into a massive tree stump
step 3) place tree stump inside a steel jail like cage
step 4) take 6 preselected hogs and/or piglets and give them each an ak and fbm
step 5) place hogs and/or piglets in the cage , lock the cage and announce that whoever can get out of the cage with the custom blade gets to keep it
step 6) utter the magic words go go go !!!:D :D

The popularity of recent knife test videos that have been published on the Internet has led us to announce that Busse Combat, along with Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard will be publishing destructive test videos of our blades on youtube.com in the near future.

We have played our destructive test videos at shows since 1992 and used to have very short, grainy clips on our old website. It seems that youtube.com offers some really great advantages as far as hosting and quality is concerned. We have done destructive testing in “Live” demos at shows for several years now, but only those who have attended these shows have had the opportunity to view the destruction... . .

So pop some popcorn boys. . . the movies will soon begin!!!

We also hope to publish some other very extensive testing on different steels in the exact same blade configurations and edge bevels for comparative purposes. This will be more structured and repeatable in order to bring you the fairest comparisons possible.

Please offer up some ideas of what you would like to see and we'll see what we can do!

Nuke on my wayward HOGs!!!!:D

All I can say is hell yeah! I can't wait!

I wonder if a Battle Mistress could be sharpened to the point where it could cut it's own price in half. That might destroy them all. (Just kidding Busses are worth every penny and more) It might be instructive to hammer a knife an inch or two into a sheer cliff face a couple of hundred feet above some jagged rocks protruding from white water and then suspend some dead weight from the handle. Not sure yet who we should use as dead weight.
I might volunteer myself if I get to keep the knife. (If I live)

The Guillotine Test.

Build a guillotine. Fabricate a sliding carraige that can hold the blades.

Add weight as needed. Place "objects" underneath, and Guillotine's AWAY!

(objects, like cinderblocks, metal cans, autoparts, animal bone, etc.)

The BUSSE Knife Guillotine.
Offer other manufacturers to have their blades "take a ride" on it. :)

I know this isn't "Destructive", but one thing I'd like to see is a knife used for normal hard use stuff i.e. batoning & chopping live and dead wood, then show a demo of edge retention. That's more realistic to me than all the cinder block bashing etc... Get some kind of dummy (MANIQUIN, not a person with low IQ) and dress him in normal thug wear. Do some demo's of regular hack and slash techniques and show how differant blades perform on differant clothing. I would love to see how forward serrations do on a heavily clothed maniquin, I'm sure it will be impressive. Basicly, start off with regular stuff, then show performance in a manner that is practical & repeatable, then move on to "Destructive stuff", cinder blocks, car doors etc... and show the performance constant again. May need a hydraulic arm or something that exerts the same amount of force and pressure to a target.

I recently cut hunks out of someones knife when they challenged my Busse's toughness. That little test made a lot of believers out of the crowd. They tried to hack the Busse and just screwed their knife up worse. I don't have photos to prove it, so I won't tell what brand the other knife was. I will say it was comparable in price though...

I can't wait to see what you come up with. If you need any help with materials (old cammies, flak jackets, or whatever), let me know!

i don't know if i have the stomach for destruction of infi.
would be kinda neat to see what would happen when infi meets sapi plates.

I don't know how but you have to incorporate one of these:

And sell turns.

Very cool idea, boss!

As far as other steels that I'd like to see tested along side Infi, include:

The ubiquitous S30V

A2

M2

3V

154CM

M4

:D

Funny how noss4 gets flamed for knife testing but Jerry gets praise for testing. I am all in favor of destructive testing no matter what the knife may be. I think some of the posts on the knife tests forum are way out of line in criticizing noss4. Anyone who knocks these tests are "somewhat teched in the head." Information, in the long run, benefits us all because manufacturers may decide to improve their product. All I can say is RIGHT ON JERRY!

Make it 50' and I'll take it! My ego knows I've unintentionally swam enough whitewater in my life and I got no prize for it other than a couple of dislocated shoulders. :o

noss4 lost his credibility early on with his delusional thread about being attacked by Strider- (they offered him a free knife, which to him was an attack)
His grandstanding egotistical posts don't help his case much, and many disagree with his ultimate goal of requesting warranty replacement on all the knives he purposefully breaks.

I don't agree with the people who are against abusive and destructive testing, however- I am all for it.

Jerry is testing his own blades as best I can tell, at least all the destructive testing he has done that I have seen so far have involved his own blades. As I recall he will go head to head with another maker if that maker does the testing of his own blade so that there can be no claim of foul play when and if their blade fails. Jerry please correct me if I am incorrect.
