Diamonds in the Rough!

So many threads to read these days, there's a lot to miss. All I can say Phil is YOWZA, that is some kind of awesome right there. Nice work!

Looks like a fine Jack Philllll!
We share a taste in knives!!

Magnificent knife Philllll. It's interesting to see such an older knife with Spun rivets- at what stage/era did Schrade stop hammering Pins and start the Spun Pin process?
I love your collection Philllll.

Thanks, CC, Duncan, and Mike!

You posed a good question, Duncan, and I'm afraid I have no idea what the answer is. I'm actually wondering if this one was made by Empire since it has a similar rat tail bolster to Lyle's farmer jack from earlier in the thread. It also has brass liners which I found interesting. I thought brass liners were usually matched up with nickel bolsters but these bolsters are certainly not nickel.

Speaking of Farmer Jacks... I took a few photos of these today after realizing I'd neglected to add them to this thread.

You really knocked it out of the park with these Orchard Gems, Charlie! Most definitely a fitting tribute to Lyle's old DE FJs!

Glad you are enjoying the OGs, Philllll!
They certainly drew inspiration from the great D-E brand we love so much!

I added a couple more DEs to the collection!

Excuse the lousy photos, I'll take some better ones when I've got more light to work with. But I'm too excited about them right now to hold off posting so these pics will have to do for now.

These 2 punch stockmans (stockmen?) are both on the #314 pattern, but the spey blades are a bit different. Not sure which was made first.

Nice find, Philllll!
How long is that #341 pattern?

Somehow popping this thread back up reminded me of a D-E I haven't posted here yet. I've had it for years; don't know how it missed the call to order??

Tony B. made a non-locking re-pop when Case produced the collaboration - whatever year that was?! That's it in the picture with the old D-E.

Thanks Charlie!

They are just under 4", I'd say 3 and 15/16ths. I've also got a 3 and 3/8th equal end punch stockman on the way!

That lockback you've got is top notch and Tony's rendition is :eek::eek::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:!

What's that pattern called?

Ah! A nice sized Stockman!!

That lockback is a Saddlehorn, made in an Art Deco style, by Empire Knife Co, Winsted, CT.
Tony called it an Arkansas Hunter, and the name kinda stuck!

Will someone please shine some light into the darkness of my ignorance and explain the relationship (if any) of the DE's shown here and the Imperial DE's.

Thank you Paul!!! :D

Jerry, Shapeigh Hardware contracted from a couple different cutlers to make knives under their Diamond Edge brand. Most of the knives you see here were made by Schrade, and a few by Empire.

I'm not 100% certain on this so someone correct me if I'm wrong. From what I understand Imperial bought the rights to the Diamond Edge name after Shapleigh went out of business and started producing more economical knives under the brand name.
